niksboy Group Races and specifically Group 1 races have closing dates for entry at which you pay to enter your horse. Later you may have to pay further entry fees. If you do not enter your horse at these early entry stages you often have the opportunity to make a supplementary entry at a much higher cost.
I don't know when first decs are, PN will be able to tell you, but i'm guessing connections were slightly suprised to see him win so well at york lto and decided to chance their arm at the coronation stakes. TBH his owners are very very wealthy (obviously you'll recognise the colours) so a supplementary fee is pennies to them, as is the prize money.

No horse with just one run in a maiden should be as short as Joyeuse is in the Albany. She may win but I really like Midnite Angel at double figure prices. Her run LTO was very impressive and she still could be anything.
thank you all for the answers chaps, I have sorted out a little yankee to add a bit of excitement to this afternoons viewing. Joyeuse in the first to keep the emotions on a high, swerving the next, will have a bit on the supplemented Pavlosk, the Wolverton looks to be a pin sticker so I will go for Two For Two on the strength of the O'Meara/Tudhope combination and their reasonable success this season. Still looking at the queens vase but unsure about the heart v head selection of Disclaimer so the final yankee horse is Joe Packet for the in form Portman yard. It has been a good meeting and fantastic to see Channel 4 finally covering the full card and not breaking off for bloody countdown and such rubbish.
I cant see that much rain coming Roto. It will be good to firm by the end of the day at best and there would have to be a deluge for it to turn soft for Saturday for Maarek. Ground wont suit this horse so I'll be staying clear of him. Society Rock should blast all aside if he gets a decent break and runs like he did 12 months ago against Black Caviar. He missed the break that day but was flying at the death and wasnt far behind that great horse.. Fallon on board ... I expect him to gain compensation.

Its more than likely not going to come up soft enough for him but watered ground doesn't take an awful lot of rain to get into the ground and I'll be doing a rain dance tonight. David Nagle will not risk him on unsuitable ground so its a no lose situation - money back if he doesn't run and a superb price if ground comes up soft.

3.45 Ascot Pavlosk 8/1 I think its very interesting that the shrewd Sir Michael Stoute has decided to supplement this unbeaten filly (albeit money is no issue for Khalid Abdullah) and although the draw in stall 12 could have been a lot kinder I think she is a fascinating contender in this open looking contest. The first thing to note is that both the market leaders have the 2 outside berths which will take a superb performance to overcome and I never really warmed to Sky Lantern (despite her Guineas win already being franked) and think she and Just The Judge are worth taking on. Looking at Pavlosk specifically, this decently bred daughter of Arch has been an untested winner of both her starts to date and she looks a really talented future. She made her debut just 2 months ago at Newbury over 7f where she only needed to be pushed out by Ryan Moore to score by a comfortable length to subsequent Listed runner up Spicy Dal and she took the step up to Pattern company in her stride with a supremely impressive victory at York last month as she was miles above anything else in the race as she won comfortably by 3.5L. The runner up Senafe has since run a good 3rd in a Group 2 over in France to frank the form and it was another excellent display by a filly who definitely warrants her place in this Group 1 field. Clearly this is a big step up in Class for Pavlosk and she is going to find this an awful lot tougher but she couldn't have won her 2 starts to date in much easier fashion and she looks a filly with a big future ahead of her. As I said, the draw in stall 12 could have been a lot kinder but hopefully she breaks well and gets a good early position and with Ryan Moore in the plate there isn't many better jockeys out there to have on board to do so. Both her wins to date have come with a bit of cut in the ground which is in stark contrast to the quick surface she'll face today but I don't think she'll have an issue with the going and this exciting prospect definitely falls into the 'could be anything' category falling her 2 impressive successes to date. The fact she has been supplemented by the very shrewd Sir Michael Stoute says a lot to me as he isn't the sort of trainer to pitch a horse into a contest unless he thinks they can be very competitive and I think there is a strong chance Pavlosk can be just that. With the Moore/Stoute combination already stamping their mark with Estimate yesterday, I'm pretty bullish about this filly's chances and if she can continue her progression then I think she has an excellent chance of landing what doesn't look the strongest Group 1 in the world. 5.35 Ascot Jack's Revenge 20/1 Jack's Revenge very much caught the eye on his reappearance run in the Lincoln when a fairly luckless 2L beaten 5th off his current mark of 91 and if coming on for the run I think George Baker's progressive 5 year old looks primed to run a massive race if getting a clean run today. Since entering handicaps as a 3 year old, Jack's Revenge has made relentless progression having started life rated 50 on his handicap debut back in February 2011 to end his 3 year old season rated 70 before having a superb 4 year old season to end the year on his current rating of 91 having won twice and been placed 5 times from 8 runs. His final run of last season came with a superb effort over 7f at Doncaster when beaten 0.75L by Tartiflette when flying at the finish having traveled supremely well throughout the contest. That form looks very strong with the winner scoring subsequently in impressive style on her first start this season whilst some of the horses in behind have run very credible and it was another very good run without winning for Baker's charge. That run came back in November and he made a highly encouraging seasonal reappearance when very much catching the eye back in March in the Lincoln at Doncaster over a mile where he looked full of running at the finish as he certainly didn't have a charmed run through the field to finish a 2L beaten 5th. The form of that race is decent but not superb (although you'd expect the runners in the field to have been primed for the big prize that day) and it was an effort that certainly suggested he's going to have another big season as a 5 year old. A horse that really relishes these big field handicaps, Jack's Revenge is a super consistent animal having only been out of the top 3 once in 8 starts last year and if things fall right for him today then I feel he looks primed to run a big, big race. Pat Cosgrave takes over in the saddle today for the first time and I'm very happy to see him on board as I think Jack's Revenge will be excellently suited to his style and given that George Baker knocked in his first Royal Ascot winner with Belgian Bill earlier in the week you've got to assume he's been excellently prepared for this big prize. I'd have preferred a slightly lower draw than stall 23 given there seems a slight bias towards the middle/far side of the track but given that he'll be held up I hope Cosgrave can plot a path down the middle of the racecourse. Although clearly a hugely open contest and he'll need things to fall right for him but the 20/1 on offer with PP with 6 places is very appealing and if everything goes right then hopefully the Baker yard can be celebrating a 2nd Royal Ascot winner in 3 days with their only runners at the meeting.
