I can confirm 100% that we are in talks with Paul Hayes agent regarding a move to our club.

Hayes is hoping his agent can reach an agreement in principal with us so that he can meet with the gaffer at some point next week when he's back from Florida. He's due to jet off to Barbados a couple of weeks after returning from Florida (must be a tough life being a footballer) so he's really keen to get the move wrapped up before then.

Preston definitely want rid as he's one of their highest earners, so it's unlikely we'll have to cough up a transfer fee for him (signing on fee maybe, who knows).

Watch this space lads and I'll update you if i hear anything else...

    Hi guys <ok>

Yeah he is one of the high earners at PNE. Never really got out of the starting blocks with us though and I'd imagine if there is a fee, then it'll only be a nominal one as we need to get the wage bill down. There were rumours he was on his way to Derby though, so maybe it's not all cut and dried

Anyway, looking forward to our games next season and all the best :) <ok>

    Lillywhite,

Out of interest... When he does play what position predominantly does he operate in?

Whenever I've seen him he's played as the second striker. Mainly knitting the play between midfield and attack. He has good feet, decent vision and a decent range of passing... Is that accurate?

You've obviously seen more of him than i have, so your assessment would be greatfully received...

It's really hard to put a fair assessment on him really as he's made less than ten starts for PNE, probably needs a new club as things just aren't happening here for him and with the acquisition on Iain Hume I don't think Paul has a chance of a decent run in the side. He's probably at his best behind the front striker but as I say, it's difficult to judge him from a spattering of games. I've not really been impressed but new club can bring the best out of a player and he might do the job for you<ok>

    Cheers Lilly...

If he does end up with us hopefully he'll make more of an impact than he did at your place...!!

He had big success at scunthorpe at this level at least. Is a good pro, I wouldve had him 2 years ago. Now it's an interesting risk, has got potential Abbott written all over him, however I do think he's definitely better than that
