brb This is a scandalous development.
Have you been down to Thanet recently ? - plenty of places to do your weekly shop ! The area has a population of approximately 170,000. This will be Tesco's 8th shop in the area. I see that the illustration shows it to be on 'Extra' store ( the largest in Tesco's range ) - they already have an ' Extra ' store. There are at least 10 other supermarkets ( Asda, Sainsbury, Waitrose, CO-OP, Morrissons Aldi, Lidl ) in Thanet. 18 SUPERMARKETS FOR SUCH A SMALL AREA !!
Margate & Ramsgate High Streets are a dump ! Thanet has a 'newish' shopping complex at Westwood Cross - at the crossroads of the three main towns of Thanet. The traffic is a nighmare at the best of times. I had the misfortune of trying to negotiate this strategic point last Sunday at 2pm - it took me nearly 30 minutes to travel under one mile - no wonder that the location is locally known as Westwood Chaos !
And as there's no funfair or anything else to entertain families - there's only shopping left to do.

Summer time allows me to read a bit more. A good friend of mine gave me this book yesterday - not everyone's cup of tea - but I found it cativating - just FINISHED reading it ( already )

Mind you I only took a day to read my last book ( no it wasn't a comic )

Aother 'one dayer' was Midnight Express - but was disappointed by the film.

As James May would say " Coq "
It really is another outdated commercial opportunity to rip off people - only this time it's our young kids who get fleeced. Actually its extra money extracted from me in order that they can buy me some overpriced token of affection <I must not say rubbish> The only winners are shops who seem to produce items just for these occasions.
It's the same with Mothers Day, ...... and as for Valentine's Day........... My first son was born on 11th February( not this year ! ) I had promised my wife a dozen red roses to cheer up her hospital bedside. I nearly needed an ambulance when I was told the cost. The shop owner then had the cheek to say that if it had been outside of that week the price would have been a quarter of what I paid. ( I keep my promises )

edit - I will be spending time with my sons today - properly bonding without the need for sentimental trinkets.

Do we want our Police to be thieves, liars, stupid or ALL three ?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-22926711

The PCSO claims she was wrongly convicted of theft. In a longer report on this woman she claims to have amnesia only regarding anything wrong she has done. ( how convenient ).
Did she think that by witholding the conviction when she applied to join the police it would not show up on a CRB check ?
Call me cynical - but this woman quite clearly has at least two of the 'attributes' in the question I have posed.

edit - I think the Met Police could compromise - allow her to join the Police -but only permit her to do traffic duty on a roundabout ( she couldn't be trusted to go anywhere near a supermarket )

After today, the daylight time now starts to get shorter.

I never promised that I would use this thread to cheer you up ! ( although you surely must have had a little laugh at the clip in my last post )

Look on the bright side - the headlong rush to winter means that it will soon be football season ( 43 days - not that I'm counting )

I normally love this time of year but the weather has been so damn depressing. One good day in June does not make a summer. Need to move somewhere warmer but where I can still come and watch the football and have a pint of decent beer. Although can't see me convincing her indoors. Still should be alright when I win the Euro Millions tonight.

I'd like to add a new topic within the supermarket rage...marketing, particularly by brand names and the big con...mens razors!

A captive market. However, probably for the last 23 years I have remained with my ole faithful razor the Gillette Sensor, now to clarify this is NOT what I choose to call the upgraded Gillette Sensor Excel which eventually I believe evolved into the latest designer expensive brand Fusion. Hence it has become very difficult now to find my blades, Sainsbury's generally are the only supermarket that appear to stock them, unless you buy online at Amazon.

I believe razors are expensive enough and for my favourite brand the average cost is about £1 per blade. £9.99 x 10. However, people appear to be fooled by the marketing technics of these new brands and pay for the more expensive less inferior by-products. Not that I have tried fusion but I had previously tried the earlier evolutions before promptly returning to my 'Sensor'.

Maybe people today are just fooled by the same marketing ploys that was aimed at me those 23 years ago. The simple rule is the older the product version of the latest designs the more likely it is superior.

Now that I'm in the correct domain for moaning - please stop using a capital A. My username is not a proper noun. <grr><laugh>

Funny, I saw the advert for Cyprus a little earlier on tv. Said to her indoors about it for a break. I might as well have been talking to the living room wall <laugh>

If you come full time BRB, tell her indoors she can have a live in Philippina or Sri Lankran maid for only 300 euros a month plus their NI
She (the maid) will also clean your car and do your gardening while you sit back and write your autoiography!
Some of the Nicosian clubs have done OK in european competitions. N Ireland under 21's here recently but they got beat by the Cypriot team

    Wish you luck!

IF I AM WRONG CAN SOMEBODY EXPLAIN - THEN SHOOT ME

My property is semi detached to that of my neighbour - BUT - we do not share any structure - such as a chimney !
She now accuses me of causing her property to be colder ( in mid summer ) than she would like <yikes>
    How ?
Because I have the fanlight windows of my bedrooms, bathroom & toilet, 'upstairs', left open !
Somehow this situation causes any cold wind to enter her premises after going through mine ! <doh>
She wants me to close them. I told her ( politely ) that I would not. I also explained that my 'open' windows would have virtually no effect on the ambient temperature in her property - because there wasn't any gaping hole between us ( other than the void in her head where her common sense used to reside ). I gave her a free lesson in Physics !
She then said that she would get a structural engineer to examine the situation - and that he would need access into my property.
By now I was actually mentally counting to 10 & physically biting my lip - I had no desire to be unpleasant ( she wasn't a stupid football referee or linesman ). I initially told her that I would not permit such access.
I then went on to ask if she considered that the problem might originate from the windows left open by the neighbour on the other side of her property.
NO -the wind was coming from MY windows and straight into her property.
I repeated my refusal to allow an 'expert' to enter my property - adding that if there was a hole between us, the 'expert' would be able to discover it from within her property - because that's where 'MY' wind emerges (apparently). I must find this hole - for the next time I need to go to the toilet. (No -I didn't say that to her )
At this point my neighbour became extremely nasty and genuinely upsetting - causing me to bite really deeply into my lip to prevent me from responding in like fashion.
Then she tells me that she would engage the services of a solicitor. I refrained from being flippant - I could have stated that most solicitors are not qualified as structural engineers.
Instead I said " Fine, even if I think it futile. " I told her that my understanding of thermo dynamics meant that I was supremely confident of my affirmation that my open windows was not the root cause of her problem - but - if she didn't believe me it might be better that she hears it from an independent expert - so - go ahead- contact your soilicitor - engage the services of a structural engineer - I WILL open my door to him ( I didn't add that I hope it wont be on a windy day as my open door may freeze her property ) - the engineer will then tell you what I've been trying to say - that I'm alwaysright.

edit - will you all please stop wetting yourselves with laughter !

I'm killing myself laughing, that's even better than your Tesco stories. Quite frankly your neighbour is nothing more than an out and out nutter. I even got tears from the shear stupidity of the crazy woman. Tell her instead of wasting her money on a solicitor and structural engineer, just to give that money to a children's charity at least then she can serve a useful purpose with her time.

That made me laugh .... Brilliant piece of writing

However I must pick you & brb up on your reasoning & therefore wrong conclusions.

The male brain automatically offers logical, scientific evidence ..... Structural Engineer etc ..... in doing this you are totally missing the obvious truth of the matter .......

..... it is always the blokes fault <whistle>
