I would imagine we are offering a lot more than 20k a week , I was told by a source who is pretty much 100% that one of our current squad doubled his wages to 40k a week from gaining promotion .
Back on topic of defensive midfielder What about Cattermole ? Bruce obviously likes him, he might not be in Sunderlands plans with change in management. But is he out of our range?
can't see him getting on with di canio , cattermole loves a card and if he could sort that out I would deffo have him at city .
There has to be some limits and structure especially when we have 4 of last years squad on the cusp of signing new contracts. What would Chester & Elmo do if someone signs on £40ktomorrow?
if we pay someone £40k pw then they'll be of proven premier league quality. if someone came into my work who'd a track record of being hugely successful I wouldn't gripe if they paid him/her a boatload.
There are doubts as to Cattermoles fitness, but he is exactly the kind of quality and experience we need and he would come as a ready made captain also.
How fit does he need to be? 40 minutes football then a walk to the changing room followed by 3 weeks off.
I'd rather take Ben Watson over Cattermole, better all round player and good a decent shot on him. Could always go for Drinkwater at Leicester, isn't he a DM? Or is that Matty James? I forget. Oliver Norwood from Huddersfield was a great player last year and Ed Upson at Yeovil was instrumental in carrying Yeovil to the 2nd tier. All would be great options (Norwood, Drinkwater and James would fit our Man U youth policy) and relatively inexpensive, unless Leicester get their stupid price tags out again.
For once I was ahead of the rumours (no inside knowledge - just could see hit didnt fit wih Di Canio)
