    http://www.nufcblog.com/2013/06/19/graham-carr-on-brink-of-resigning-after-kinnear-appointment/

"The Independent, in what they call an exclusive, are reporting tonight that Graham Carr is considering resigning from his post as Newcastle’s Chief Scout, a position he has held since February of 2010.

The news is that the 68 year-old is considering following Derek LLambias out of the club at Newcastle, after Joe Kinnear was announced as the Director of Football yesterday morning, and Joe has already famously embarrassed himself and the club several times.

Alan Pardew on the other hand has said he’s staying at the club, so the only person left that’s most affected by Joe’s appointment is Graham – and there’s a chance this is a made-up story – so we shouldn’t over-react – well not too much anyway.

But if this is true the appointment of Joe Kinnear is completely blowing up Newcastle United – or should we say Mike Ashley is blowing up the club by his ill-advised appointment of Joe Kinnear as the new Director of Football – a position he is simply not suited for.

Joe hasn’t got the presence, smarts, training or professionalism to ever be an executive.

But if the news is true about Graham Carr, it’s hardly surprising, because Graham has effectively been playing the role of Director of Football at Newcastle since Dennis Wise resigned the post, and the Corbridge-born Carr has been doing an excellent job too, and recently signed an eight year extension to his contract at Newcastle.

Carr is very well liked by Newcastle fans, and he’s been responsible for bringing in players like Cheick Tiote, Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse. Moussa Sissoko, Massadio Haidara and Gael Bigirimana – among others – he’s simply an excellent judge of players.

We hope this report in the Independent is not true, but they are reporting that Mike Ashley is simply furious with Newcastle’s complete failure last season, and that’s maybe why Derek Llambias left this morning – may be he was shown the door?

We have to hope we are not going to lose Graham Carr – that would be too tough to take."

This would just be awful if Carr was to leave...

I have just been waiting for a story like this to surface ever since the appointment of Kinnear was announced.

    I have a feeling it's bullshit.
He's just signed a long contract at his boyhood club.
One thing JFK is right on is the press love to stir ****, especially the Sounthern ones.

"Carr was unhappy at the intervention and is believed to be considering his future." so no actual quotes then ??

"Ashley has backed more than £40m in transfer spending in the last year". did I miss something ??

Have to agree with the other posters that it would have been a minor miracle if this story had not appeared in one form or another. All we need now is reports from a" reliable sauce" close to the club, of a mass transfer request protest by all the players.
40 million? Not too sure were that one came from and HDAQ asked did he miss something ? The thing l think we will miss is any window of stability to sign the few players we still desperately need, if we are to avoid a repeat of last season.
Ashley is said to be furious at the failures of last season, and so he should be, we plummeted like a stone from 5th to 16th, flirting just a bit to close to relegation. What l don't understand is if they all supposedly sat down to analyse what when wrong at the end of the season, why is he throwing what appears to be a hissy fit now ??
The dust should have settled and the line should have been drawn. If members of his executive staff needed their cards marked, then fair enough, do it privately and move on.
The club and it's leaders should all be working together at the moment, securing our transfer targets, early and then focussing on a good pre-season.
But sadly, we are in tatters again, I thought it could not get any worse and l fear l was wrong. If last season was diabolical when it had promised so very much, Lord knows what next season will be like. I for one am not looking forward to it.
Other clubs are busy strengthening, quietly getting on with the business in hand. We don't even know if the manager, chief scout and our DoF are even speaking to each other, let alone working tirelessly to secure new players. It really is shameful and saddening.

    Another misquote maybe.

Maybe it should read Ashley has banked more than £40m meant for transfer spending.

Surprisingly poor journalism from the Telegraph. No quotes, just 2 + 2 = Ameobi. Carr is very highly regarded by Mike Ashley and is his ticket out of SJP - remember, buy cheap, sell high, and Carr has done a fantastic job so far, so I doubt very much that he's under any threat. Nor do I think Carr would want a DoF style role.

I'm sort of worried that it's getting blown out of all proportion - we have every right to, we tend to look under the bonnet. But the sensationalist media are just out to sell extra papers at the expense of the club. Kinnear's appointment is clearly to the vast majority a mistake, but within the owner's head it's entirely possible all he wants is a second opinion as to whether the team needs more players and, if so, which types we should/shouldn't be going for. It could be that Ashley admits failure last year and perhaps thinks Llambias' lack of football knowledge is to blame, in that he didn't know how badly we needed a CB (Douglas at the time) or a CF (De Jong at the time). Nor maybe did he know how much these people were worth - sometimes, as many of us know, in football you just pay the going rate - if you need someone, you need someone, you can't just "make do" with people like Williamson or Ameobi.

Just hoping this doesn't happen, however, with all the crap going around our beloved club it would come as no surprise. If there is a god can he please get our club sold to people who care about our history and traditions.

As I said, it's sensationalism. Ultimately, all that has happened at NUFC is Ashley has brought in the only man with football experience he knows and trusts. Unfortunately for both him and the fans, that's Joe Kinnear. Llambias wasn't up to the task - he didn't know the real value of players, had to constantly rely on what he was told then had to make judgements he was ill equipped to make. I'm almost certain that's what fcked us up last Summer. What a football person can bring is more urgency - if Twente wanted another £1m last year for Douglas, and we lost Taylor to the shoulder injury, I would bet that even a buffoon like Kinnear would have made the deal happen. Same with January - Remy would have been forced over the line, I get the feeling that Llambias drew a line, then went off to a casino with his mobile switched off.

So let's look at the facts. Pardew has said he's in it for the long haul. Carr has a long relationship with Joe Kinnear. Kinnear also claims to have met with him several times and has said categorically they are happy working together. Ashley rates and actually NEEDS Carr - there's no-one around going to do a better job. Carr has an 8 year contract and is 66 - why on Earth would he leave? Carr reported into Llambias. He now reports to Kinnear. What about that structure hurts Carr's job or role?

I doubt Kinnear approaches life in the same way he does Talksport after he's been down the pub - everyone is quite positive about him (Taylor, Harper, Lovenkrands) - so is he worse to deal with than Llambias? As we await friendlies against Braga, Blackpool and St Mirren, I'm pretty sure - as owner - that I'd be a bit fcked off too. I expect Joe Kinnear, for all his many flaws, can also see what a crapstorm has been created by a lack of preparation for the new season.

The press vultures are circling now. To be fair Ashley has brought this on himself. He has given them licence to tuck in and make this kind of stuff up with the appointment of JK. Its open season now.

An experienced, professional scout like Graham Carr would not get emotionally attached to any player actually signing for the club.

He will watch hundreds of players and have a portfolio of potentially attractive signings in his locker, why would he throw a paddy over us not bringing Douglas in?

We won't sign everyone he recommends, these newspapers are so naive it's tragic. Desperate attempt to disrupt the club further and if Carr walks it'll be nowt to do with bloody Douglas.

For god's sake we've been linked with this guys for years and he's hardly leaped at the chance to join has he?
From what I hear he's hit and miss and pretty reckless in the tackle anyway, and another one with no Premier League experience whatsoever. He's a gamble.

All of a sudden he's the answer to all our prayers, vetoed by JFK. Do we even know this to be official fact?

NUFC.com are saying he looks likely to leave:

Derek Llambias resigned as Managing Director of Newcastle United on Wednesday morning. The news came via SkySports News and a statement on the official site (see below).

It seems that the trigger for the resignation was the over-ruling of the signing of FC Twente defender Douglas - Joe Kinnear claiming never to have heard of the Brazilian, who has played in the Champions League.

Llambias had spent the summer trying to negotiate a free transfer for the player and it now seems that Chief Scout Graham Carr is likely to follow Llambias out of the club.

Think it's a case of moving the goal posts a bit, Cisse £10m, Anita £6m, Debuchy £4m?, Sissoko £2m, million here and there for Bigi and Haidera etc then wages for them all would be tipping £35m, add a bit for luck.
For all Llambias didn't know football, he did have a good idea of business.
Kinnear on the other hand, doesn't know anything. He may be surprised to hear that coming from a simpleton like myself, but as the saying goes, 50,000 toon fans can't be wrong.
So hierarchy wise Carr answering to a boss doesn't change, it's just the boss has changed from someone wholly trusting his opinion to someone who keeps pulling his trousers down in the centre circle on match day and telling everyone else to point and laugh.
If the Douglas veto was based on Kinnear not having heard of him then I think I would consider walking if that was going to be the next 3 years (min) of employment.
Don't forget he stands a good case for constructive dismissal on a 8 year deal. Could provide a better payoff if there is an Ashley get out clause written in.
Kinnear's been out of work for three years recovering, as a football fan surely he's spent that time looking into a bit of football? Surely as a Newcastle based fan he's looked into a bit of our news the last few years, how can he not have heard of a player linked the last three transfer windows?

He hasn't heard of 'Douglas' because in his head, Kinnear hears different names to everybody else. He thought we were after some bloke called Dogmess for the last three years, so for Kinnear, this Douglas fella must be some new wannabe. If only Kinnear had his hearing sorted he be great.

Well at least all this horseshit has given us all something to discuss. I bet 5 a sides tempo around the North East has gone up 20% as people allow themselves to buy into all this media bullshit. One day he is set to walk, the next he never was <doh> I think we should have a sweepstakke on the next horseshit rumour to surface to stir the pot. It has to be something really far fetched. Jonas is leaving?
