Great game between Italy + Japan last night - only thing that spoiled it was the inane comments of the pundits at half / full time who kept on about "pelanties!" I should have watched with the sound off!
Right then. It's time for the big one. The one we've all been waiting for. Spain vs Tahiti. Kick off 8pm.
Spain are resting a few key players. Not that you'd notice. Here's their XI: Reina, Azpilicueta, Albiol, Sergio Ramos, Monreal, Cazorla, Javi Martinez, Silva, Mata, Torres, Villa.
The real question is for a team that keep the ball so well... Surely it's more disrespectful to keep the ball at the back than to attack.... I'm guessing 15-0
I can guarantee that this will not be a world record. Those saying that clearly don't know just how bad American Samoa are even in comparison to Tahiti. Only thrice has an international side scored 20 or more in a game, and two of those were Australian victories against amateur nations with populations only about three or four times the size of Beverley
The answer to Mr Savage's question is Archie Thompson, with 13 against American Samoa in that famous 31-0 win. He was dropped for the next game, I believe.
Before the kick-off, I am going to say that I do not think this will be a world record score that will beat the 31-0. I do think, however, that this might be Spain's record win, or will at least get close to it.
And there's 3-0 Spain. Torres again. Tahiti play such a high lie, it gives their opponents too many chances...
