"Leeds United boss Brian McDermott says the summer transfer targets are in place and want to sign for the club; he just needs the go ahead from the owners and the chief executive. McDermott told Yorkshire Radio that he is having a meeting this evening with chief executive Shaun Harvey and one of the club owners and he is looking for clarification to get the deals done. Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, McDermott said, "I have a meeting tonight with Shaun Harvey and one of the owners and I need the clarification on where we are at because that is really important. "The targets are in place and I know the players that we are trying to get want to come to the club, it is just a matter of doing the deals now. "I need to get clarification that the deals can be done and we want to do them." So far this summer, McDermott has signed League One striker Matt Smith from Oldham Athletic on a free transfer. McDermott continues to be strongly linked with a number of his former players at Reading with Matt Mills, Stephen Hunt, Noel Hunt and Kevin Doyle all on his wish list. The squad are due to return for pre-season training next Thursday, June 27th, and McDermott admitted at the start of the summer that he was hoping to have most of his deals done by the time he returned." Looks like nothing much has changed. Crucial period methinks
Bring back the old 606, where there was a little less doom and gloom. Crikey this is getting like JA606
RCDM, go and wash your mouth with soap. This is far more cheerful than that other place!!!! Having said that, if the meeting between BMD & Harvey/one of the Directors goes/went badly and as a result BMD walks, my more than half full cup would rapidly spring a leak & suddenly be a tad empty. The next couple of weeks will be season defining. Let's keep the faith and MOT.... for now at least!!!
Boggers, Everything will be fine. We might not end up with some of the players that some fans want, but we've got to be realistic. There's not that much activity from most clubs at the moment. The transfer window opens in 11 days, its going to be a long 11 days for people if they're panicking about our lack of movement in the transfer market now.
Who the fans want is irrelevant - but McDermott says he's got 6 or 7 deals in place that are just dependant on the cash. If we can't afford them now, we won't be able to afford them at any time in the transfer window, unless we sell one of our star assets. That's where the worry and panic comes from.
The worry and panic is over something that hasn't happened yet and may well not happen. At no point has he said we won't get the players he wants.... “We have had things in place for quite a while now. I have a meeting (today) for us to get the go-ahead to really nail these deals down. It’s really important we get things nailed down now" If it doesn't happen, lets all get up in arms then...
