I was up in Newcastle yesterday. The two cab drivers I used were both fuming and had no more explanation for this move than anyone else. But I reassured them that I didn't think he could do any worse in the transfer market than Mark Hughes...
Talking with a few Toon fans after they beat us and they are not happy with Pardew at all, he signed that stupid 8 year contract and thing went down hill for him from there.
It is all very odd. I can see it as a Pardew removal tool but surely there are way to do that without making the club look utterly unprofessional. It will be interesting to see how this one pans out and, once again, I'm glad it's not us behaving badly / oddly / stupidly (yet!).
that's my theory, he's got about six years left on his deal. they can't afford to sack him so are trying to force him out. of course he could dig his heels in and it would mean relegation.
