I feel for the Newcastle fans I really do. They all call him JFK for obvious reasons, and they certainly are not all daft. It has to be some ploy of Ashley's to get Pardew to walk and hence avoid a mahoosive payout on that ridiculous 8 year contract he gave him. I simply can't see any other reason.

"I can pick up the phone and call any one and open any door." self-delusion of the highest order.

Unless he is referring to his last job in a call centre flogging double glazing.

According to the Mirror we’re looking to take England U21 International Andre Wisdom on loan.

“Liverpool’s England Under-21 starlet Andre Wisdom is wanted by Fulham on a season-long loan.

Wisdom can play right-back - where he filled in well for the Reds - or at centre-half and Cottagers boss Martin Jol is in talks to seal a deal.

Rodgers is apparently keen that he gets more game time at a senior level. I can certainly see him as giving us needed cover but, all things being equal, can’t see him getting more games with our 1st XI than the 12 he had last year at Liverpool.

So not sure where this one’s going.

The amount of lies he told in that interview too

Brought Krul to the club? Nope, was there 3 years previous
Never been sacked as a manager? Sacked from Luton
Left Newcastle in 12th? They were 15th.

    Outstanding.

He also said that he won 3 manager of the year awards, he actually only won 3 manager of the month awards.

In all the excitement of the fixtures coming out, I almost missed the news that apparently we have put in a bid - said to be £2m - for Birmingham's young winger Nathan Redmond. Apparently Palace, Swansea and Norwich have also made offers for him.

From what I can gather he can play on either wing, or (occasionally) behind the main striker.

As for Andre Wisdom, can he play left back? If not I agree that he might struggle to get more games with us than he would for Liverpool, which makes the loan pretty useless from their point of view. At least if he does come they won't be able to recall him if they aren't happy about how it works out. Premier League clubs aren't allowed to include recall clauses in loans, which was why we wouldn't let Stockdale go to Swansea when they first came up. They went out and signed Vorm as a second choice, so that worked out fairly well for them.

I'd love Redmond to come here, young and English and relatively cheap. If our options on the wing next season were to be Dejagah, Kaca, Frei, Redmond and Duff, I'd be very happy with that. Wisdom can only play CB and RB which would give us cover but he's already a back up at Liverpool why would he go out on loan to not improve his squad status? Riether has sensationally been linked with a move to Schalke 04 so maybe the club are looking to make a quick profit buy bringing in a replacement for nothing. Certainly hope not though.

I hadn't heard about the Reither/Schalke rumours. That's the only thing that would make sense of it as far as I can see. Even if we were planning on playing him as a centre back, it's hard to see why we would have signed Amorbietta if we were just going to play a loanee alongside Hangeland. Wisdom plus Grimmer would cover right back if Reither were to go, but as you say, let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Amen to that. I've only seen Wisdom the once - when he was taken off at the Cottage.

Paper reports that we have made a bid accepted for Junior Malanda - we chased him unsucccessfully in the January window.

"Fulham have met Zulte-Waregem’s near-£5million valuation on top transfer target Junior Malanda but still face a battle to sign him this month.

Craven Cottage boss Martin Jol wants the powerful 18-year old to strengthen his midfield and made two bids in quick succession a week ago, as revealed in Sportsmail.

Both were turned down, as the Belgian side held out for the full asking price, which Fulham have now met by offering around £3.4m up front, with the rest to follow in instalments."

I don't know much about him. Wikipedia has a very sparse entry, listing him as a defender, whereas this article says he's a midfielder. Can anyone offer more insight about what kind of player he is? Would he be a potential partner for Boateng or an alternative to him?

Whatever his position, if we're willing to pay that much for an 18 year old, he must be pretty good. This sounds like good news.

According to Transfermarket.com he is a defensive midfielder, so yes could team up with Boateng, but cover for him. Utility player as a Center-back also.

This was posted about him in the 'January Transfer Window' thread -

"An 18-year old Belgian defensive mid (who can also play as a centre back), playing for Zulte-Waregem in the Pro League. He was picked up for nothing from Lille this summer and now he's the driving force behind the team, together with playmaker Franck Berrier. His physique is immense: born on 28/08/1994, he's 1m81 tall and weighs in at 90 kg. His fat percentage is only 8 to 9 procent, so this guy is all muscle. A team mate described him as a stone wall after his first training with the team."

Local media in Hull say that Hull City are close to agreeing a £4m deal for Charlie Austin. That sounds a good price for someone we've often talked about here. Half the price Villa are asking for Darren Bent, and for a player with his best years still to come rather than somewhere in the past. Sadly, I'm not sure I could see us making a move for him at this stage.

I've just read on the Hull City board that Scott Parker is set to join us rather than Sunderland (so as to stay in London and, according to the Hull fan, not be in a relegation fight) for £4m. Anyone else heard anything about that? He's a great player, but perhaps a bit older than we ought to be looking at. I'm not sure I believe this one, but I thought it was worth passing on.

Scott Parker for £4m? Sounds like a dreadful deal, his best years are long gone.

Other threads are saying,we may be prepared to sell Reither 3mil?
and buy parker 4mil,if this is true taking in age and ability this has got to be
one of the worst deals Fulham have ever done.
"But" i would not mind Parker being added to the squad.

Scott Parker is essentially a slightly better, but older, version of Sidwell who has a much better reputation with referees. He'd be a decent signing on a free, but spending £4m on him would be a woeful decision given our financial limitations.

Malanda looks like a good player with a big upside, but he's not the passing/controlling CM we need to link up with Berba/Ruiz.

This time last year I was advocating Scotty Parker to replace Danny Murphy. But not now and certainly not at that price.

Doubt if he'd take a 40% wage cut. Anyway, 'Arry's interested so that's him well sorted.

Agree with everyone else. Certainly not at that price and not for the wages he would command either. Malanda would be a far better, cheaper and younger option.
