I may have missed something here, but are any fixtures actually planned - or are we planning for one training camp after the other ? It seems strange that we haven't heard anything yet. Does anyone have any info. on this ?

Nothing official Cologne - just the reports of a training camp in Cortina and possible home games against our European cousins. I am waiting as I wanted to book some holidays and want to tell Mrs W_Y if she is going to Northern Italy or Cyprus.

I'll be honest, I will be disappointed if we don't play Borehamwood. I always look forward to going there as the first pre-season friendly!

Borenhamwood and St Albans or Granada and Udinese.

Times might be changing...would be a better test pre season too.

need to hit the ground running this time round....

I was thinking about this the other day and I think its imperative that we play Boreham wood and Wealdstone. We dont play them simply for the 'test' or the practice. We play them to give them a boost both financially and in image. Dont you think having a Championship team play there every season gives them a gate boost and makes them look good and helps market them to undecided fansand helps increase their ticket sales. Imagine you are an undecided fan and Boreham wood draw or beat Watford, might that not make you want to watch them more often? There has been a lot of change this past year, but I dont think this should be one. It could create a potential backlash which we really dont need before such a big campaign.

And should those 'undecided' fans decide to follow a professional club, what could better than following a local club? At least they would get the chance to see their team play live on a regular basis

I like playing local non-league sides. Who knows, we could find another De Merit.

I think their supporters are a bit more impressed with their games against West Ham and Arsenal in July - but according to their WEB site we are playing them in August with the date TBC

If we're playing them in August, won't it be the development squad playing? Our season will have started, but there's doesn't until 17th.

Seems strange we haven't announced any but then I guess our season ended later and we are probably concentrating on getting players in.

Daft thing is it will probably cost more to watch us at Borehamwood than it might against Udinese for example!

    From the official site:

WATFORD will host the New York Cosmos at Vicarage Road on Saturday July 27 in the Hornets’ final pre-season friendly before the start of the Championship season.

The famous American club will visit the UK and play in Watford’s only friendly at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets will spend the first few weeks of July in northern Italy on a pre-season training camp, where they’ll play friendly fixtures (details to be confirmed soon), before returning to England on Sunday July 14.

They’ll then return to work at their London Colney training ground, before playing three domestic fixtures; firstly against fellow Hertfordshire side Stevenage, before taking on Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough United at London Road.

The Cosmos will provide the final opposition before the Hornets tackle Birmingham City in their first Championship fixture on Saturday August 3.

Sounds good to have a local trip and interesting home game.

Suspect we'll play Udinese in Italy.
