There's Killzone, Planetside and inFamous. They're what appeal to me and would be interested in, but prefer Microsofts exclusive's.
I've recently worked through the Uncharted series, i just finished The last of us and now i'm playing the InFamous games. God of war, Killzone and Metal gear solid 4 have been really good too. I tend to play things like FIFA and Call of duty on the xbox because all my mates have xbox's too They're all leaning towards the PS4 next so i'm hoping they migrate.
Online gaming is basically ****. Some games will work but others are just terrible regardless of your internet connection. I play PES and it's just unplayable online but Halo will work fine. I just don't think it's worth the bother. Same with PC gaming, all that expense and effort just for slightly better graphics... Oh and MS customer service is just ****. They really don't give a single **** about you once you've paid your money.
Be interesting to see how that goes, they brought flashpoint (the predecessor to ARMA) to consoles and it was a shocking failure. Still don't think it would be possible to bring it to console properly, aiming with a control pad is far too slow compared to a mouse (and its so realistic even one shot from a weak pistol can kill you, so speed is vital) and that's without mentioning all the controls and commands you need to use routinely. There's just not enough buttons on a console controller to facilitate a game like ARMA.
I've been 360 all the way in the current generation but I may have to switch to PS4 - provided I can find a controller that's not worthy of a midget. I actually won a PS3 in a random competition but it's only really used as a Blu-ray player. Quite useful for exclusives mind - I really like the Uncharted series and I'm more tempted now they're bringing out an Infamous 2. As for Xbox exclusives, I'm really not a fan of Halo, but could regret switching to PS4 when they bring out Fable 4. Even if Fable 3 was pure ****e.
Couldn't be further from the truth. There's a reason PC gaming has always remained the choice to the hardcore gamers over the years. A lot of cross platform games are cut down versions on consoles, and that's before you factor in stuff like addons/mods etc. If it was as simple as it being just slightly better graphics as you say, no one would bother.
People talk about cross platform gaming, TitanFall for example. But the advantage PC players have is just too large!
The new PS4 controller apparently feels a lot better and actually fits your hand more naturally. The only Xbox exclusive i'll miss is the Fable series, i loved the first two but the third one dropped the ball. Halo is ok for multiplayer and i've never been into Gears of war. I prefer Gran turismo to Forza so there aren't many exclusive Xbox franchises to keep me interested.
I really enjoy the Bethesda series of games (Fallout, Elder Scrolls), simply for the sheer amount of hours you get out of them. I've always been a fan of Borderlands, it's just so well written and gets the perfect balance of comedy and violence I crave from a game. Same with Timesplitters 3, which was my favourite FPS for a long time (it knocked Perfect Dark off my top spot, which took some doing). For a real challenge I like to play Dead Space on the top difficulty, which is insane but brutally good fun. Consoles have become all about online gaming, which is fine for games like Command and Conquer which require thought and strategy, but playing FIFA against little kids from Brackley who quit once their perfectly built Barcelona team is demolished 8-0 by a superior Doncaster Rovers side is just ****. COD is the same, why do you want to actually speak to people you play with/against via a mega gay looking headset? Just shoot them in the face for ****s sake.
you do know that both sony and microsoft have said its up to the third party game developers to decide whether to impose restrictions? so you don'y know the details as of yet, its just microsoft were more up front with it. the xbox one has a feature that i think will be awesome is the fact that you can play your games at a friends house even if they dont have that game, so say you want to continue you save file while waiting for your friend you can without even needing a disc, cloud based gaming is and will be the future.
Sony have said that they won't implement any kind of online DRM so the worst restrictions that publishers can impose is Online passes like we have now. Microsoft require you to register your games to your account so you can play them on the cloud. Basically even when you buy a disk you're just purchasing a license to play the game, kinda how steam works on the PC. Cloud gaming is cool but i'm happy with my disk based games. My internet doesn't have the speed or data usage to allow for regular 40-50gb game downloads so my best option now is the PS4. Maybe in 3 or 4 years the Xbox will be viable but i think it's too much too soon for a lot of areas.
I really liked the Elder Scrolls series, (Skyrim was brilliant) but my favourite game of recent times was Amnesia: The Dark Descent which was genuinely frightening, (in the creepy and tense sort of way). Great when hooked up to a room-filling 5.1 system! Can't wait for the sequel. Hate Multiplayer in general, (though Test Drive Unlimited 2 was OK when I finally found a decent bunch of players). I like playing games for the atmosphere and experience rather than a competitve edge.
PS4 has pissed all over the xBox 1 recently, Microsoft are even messing themselves up Anyway, doesnt matter, just buy a PC please log in to view this image
Sony haven't actually done anything. The only thing they have done is upgrade their system. Microsoft seem to do Sony's work for them.
i'm just going to wait and see on all of the issues, but for a mere £80 (i know £80 isn't insignificant but if your paying £350 anyway its not much more) you get more for your money, an entertainment centre as well as a console. you get the kinnect included too where as you need to pay for the camera on the ps4 which will cost some £s. the xbox is getting a bad rap, its all about preference, i for one am convinced about the controller, other then the N64 controller nothing else fits as comfortable as the xbox controller. and XBL is far superior to PSN
The same that moan about Scots, black people, and that kind of stuff, i.e. right-wing bigots. As for the consoles, will probably keep using XBOX360 for another year or so but don't like the way Kinect plays such a big part in the new XBOX. As mentioned the PS servers are absolute dogshit so that would really put me off switching to PS4, actually had a PS3 before the XBOX as thought it had better specs and blueray but turned out the online service was terrible and sold it to my mate (he was happy)
