I read that Hull are away to Arsenal so I think Cardiff away sounds right. Two North London clubs against two newly promoted clubs. We'll win it 0-2.

Er... you do realise that the fixtures have been announced now, don't you, TMT?
We're away to Palace. Arsenal are at home to Villa.

If you can navigate your way through the Barclays David Moyes League it'll show the first games, or alternatively, go on your club website.

Yet another away opening Premier League fixture for Spurs (this time at Crystal Palace).

That's 16 away games and just 6 at home in the 22 seasons of the competition.

These things are supposed to even themselves out, but even if we get only home opening games for the next decade, it will take until 2023 until they do.

I hope I'll have the jet pack I was promised by then.

I read on BBC live that Hull had Arsenal so assumed we had Cardiff,I just assumed it might be right. So it's Palace, well okay I still say 0-2.

If the result is random the result would happen about one in every 56 times. There are 20 teams though so its not as unlikely as it first appears - I think you would expect one team to have had seven home matches or fewer just by chance. So perhaps there is no bias.

There are 20 teams, but as each plays another should that figure not be 10? So its sort of a 1 in 5-6 chance of it happening to someone?

does anyone have details of when how many home/away games out of 23 it's been for Arsenal? & their last 5-6 season openers?

I don't think so: If you wanted to be biased you could set it up so that one team had the away fixture in 19 seasons against each of the other teams, and this wouldn't really affect their outcome in a noticeable way

Surely they must have an opposite record to us?

I asked, because I cannot remember the last time Arsenal were away. Perhaps they have been once or twice in the last 10 years, but it certainly always seems like they are at home.

Yes- that is right and there are a number of paired teams so the same will apply to others. It would be interesting to see Liverpool/Everton and City/Utd

I believe that West Ham are also kept on the opposite side to us too, so they'll have benefited from it when they've been in the Premier League.
