ALAN Pardew has insisted he will remain as Newcastle United boss, despite the turmoil currently engulfing the club.

The 51-year-old has re-affirmed his commitment to the Magpies a day after seeing Joe Kinnear installed above him as director of football and managing director Derek Llambias resigning from his post.

In the most brief of comments, Pardew told the Chronicle: “I’m staying - to take the club up the league.”

Pardew’s silence in the wake of Kinnear’s appointment was interpreted as an indication of his disquiet at owner Mike Ashley’s decision, although it appears he is at least ready to try to make it work.

However, Llambias’s departure means further upheaval in the dynamics behind the scenes at St James’s Park, and it remains to be seen just how the pair and chief scout Graham Carr are able to handle the Irishman’s presence in a supervisory role.

Pardew, of course, signed an eight-year contract last September, his reward for guiding the club into the Premier League’s top five and back into Europe, although the terms of that deal do not preclude an early exit.

However, the top flight Manager of the Year’s fortunes dipped alarmingly last season, when a squad which had not been sufficiently strengthened during the summer, much to his disappointment, was exposed as it attempted to negotiate its way through a cluttered fixture schedule.

Ashley backed a belated January rebuilding programme as an unlikely fight against relegation ensued, but the Magpies limped over the finishing line to come home in 16th place, and that was simply not good enough for all concerned.

Pardew’s future was a matter of some speculation as a difficult campaign drew to a close, and even he admitted he could be relieved of his duties.

However, he emerged from an end-of-season debrief still in post and ready for a fresh assault on the Premier League.

It was then that Ashley, with his innate sense of timing, hurled in the curveball which has thrust the club into disarray once again by appointing Kinnear, who has already demonstrated his ability to resemble the most unstable of loose cannons.

Llambias’s subsequent departure has added to the unfolding chaos, and only time will tell if Pardew and the highly-rated Carr can forge a working partnership with Ashley’s new right-hand man

The thing is if Poyet does come and Pardew leaves, I smell the foul decaying scent of a certain Mr Wise on the horizon. I'm serious about that.

Not surprised. He wouldn't resign if he was forced to have sex with a badger.

Of course that wouldn't work. Especially as he doesn't need to be forced to do that.

Was thinking that tricky third outing... he's knackered he's exhausted, he's been satisfied twice... But the badger's ravenous lust has thus far not been entirely quenched, or else Ashley and Kinnear's lust for viewing such an extravaganza has not been.

    Maybe I'm crazy.

He may of told the press he is staying but with Joe Kinnear watching from the dark shadow's of his training ground office waiting to pounce at the first opportunity to claim his job I don't think he's staying for long. Apart of me thinks this is awful because for one it's immoral and 2, Joe Kinnear is an awful manager and knows little if anything about Football in the 21st century. The other half of me think it probably just desserts because he was swarming around like a vulture before Hughton was shafted. I believe he was on the backburner too early because he became favorite for the job almost immediately, despite being a highly unethical appointment, Alan was somehow something like 5-1 to replace Hughton ffs.

My own question is why wasn't Graeme Carr appointed as a DOF? I know people are thinking "He's just a scout" and they're right, he's chief scout. Having said that, Graeme has proven savvy in terms of recruitment and is also from Newcastle which is always a bonus here. His knowledge of the modern game is of high standard and providing he has an impressive vision for the club I can't see where the plan would falter.

Some wonder how Newcastle are to keep afloat financially. Mike Ashley is a great businessman, no one has learned anything from that comment but he wouldn't have the time to keep on top of our finances as well his own other personal interests so appointing a general manager (not manager) would make great sense, one who would work in tandem with a marketing expert in making sure our finances are on track to keep is in the top 15/20 wealthiest clubs in world football.

As for Alan Pardew, give him some say in transfers, a manager or head coach has every right to demand players suitable for the style he wants to play. Because Hatem Ben Arfa and Pappis Demba Cisse are no battering rams just as Darren Bent and Andy Carroll are no wizards. If Alan finishes outside the top 10 then yes replace him, he'd of served 3 and a half years and served ok and would have no real regrets but then pick a new head coach/manager; one of Stuart Pearce, Ian Holloway, Malky Mckay or Stuart Baxter.
