No beef, just don't think he fits into our system. Very good midfielder in a 442 formation, but in our 4-2-3-1 I feel he is not strong enough defesnively to play as one of the 2 'pivot-men' and lacks flair and creativity to play the CAM role.

I do tend to think of him as more of a CDM. But as mentioned above he's never let us down, although not the most exciting player.

How long has JWP been at the academy? Half a season of training is not going to ruin him, even if I'mouth did have lower stds. But they have been promoted and eddie will be taking things very seriously.

Cork plays as one of the 2 'Pivot-men', i was referring to Davis when he plays CAM

His experience helped us big time last season, an old head helping out the young lads can never be underestimated. Remember he was one of the very few players who actually had top flight experience and he also captained Fulham, Villa and Rangers and his country (albeit Northern Ireland). That wasnt a fluke and you have to have something about you to do that time and time again.

David Beckham spent a spell at Preston !!! Case proved I reckon.

I actually watched Beckham's debut for Preston, I was at University and the Lancashire evening post had a big headline that PNE had taken a "Man Utd Star" on loan. Bear in mind Preston were in the bottom league at the time. We thought 'wow' we should go to the game on Saturday - (£3 for with NUS card at the time!!) We went to the game and looked at the line up for the 'Star' - David Beckham??? Who's he? never heard of him. Anyway he looked great and I think within a month or so he was recalled by Utd and started to appear in their first team squad

sending him out with on loan is what he needs, Bournemouth would be a decent place to. As long as the loan has a recall option

JWP is an early bloomer and probably won't make it with us imo. His most significant contribution was a fairly simple assist. I watched him closely and like davis he was too reluctant to make attacking passes something which isn't good enough for a midfielder with attacking instructions. He won't be big enough to be destroyer and he will have to improve his passing and creativity monumentally to be a CAM. His best bet is to replace Jack Cork but Jack Cork could struggle for game time himself if we sign wanayama or banega and Jack Cork is twice as good as JWP.

James Ward-Prowse is not an "early bloomer". Shaw is more of an early bloomer due to the fact he's grown tonnes in the last few months or so, whereas Ward-Prowse hasn't had that growth spurt just yet. Not everyone grows rapidly at 17,18. My dad left school at 16 and was 5'5. 18- 5'6... At 20 he was 6'2.

Looking at the fixtures has re-affirmed my thoughts that this is the season to really push on. Be that through quality loan signings, pushing the boat out on getting transfer targets or ensuring that current players stay put (or, more likely, a combination of all 3) this is an ideal time to have a real go at finninsh top half/even europe.

It looks like quite a weak league next season, with lots of teams in transition as well - would be an ideal time to steal a march and really kick on.

Really impressed with some of the names we have been linked with and would love us to get a couple more in soon to put us on the front foot. This could be a fantastic season for Southampton FC.

Then again sometimes they never grow, like Wise or Gillett

or maybe he was two foot tall a couple of years ago.

Because Schneiderlin is absolutely massive, being good at breaking up play isn't about size, it's about anticipation.
