in the CL modric was often overshadowed by sandro who was brilliant in midfield.modric is a tidy play, but he does go missing in quite a few games.

I dunno, Liverpool seem to have managed to fit Gerrard and Suarez into the same team. I think if we sign Sneijder it'll be a sign that SAF believes he can play a bit deeper than usual. And would give us the option to play 433 / 451 like we did in the FA Cup.

What about all the big games he did well in? He may have been overshadowed by an excellent performance by Sandro away vs AC Milan but that doesn't cancel out all the other times he has been magnificent.

But 442 is not their predominant formation, whereas you have started like that in most of your premiership games. Besides I can only remember Gerrard and Suarez playing in the same team before Carroll was introduced to the side so Suarez was their only striker effectively, and you would not be able to play Rooney constantly up front as it would piss off Hernandez and Berbatov. On another note although SAF knows a lot more about football than me I still don't think Sneijder would adapt well to a deeper role, he has made those types of mistakes in the past as you can see from Anderson.

Sneijder seems to be first choice and what a player but...i'm sure he is staying with Inter and has said so himself.

Modric whilst not as good is certainly better than anyone in the current united central midfield at what he does. Surely a better option than carrick or Anderson?

Likewise, I think this is the sort of player we (chelsea) are crying out for but it seems we are mostly being linked with strikers/wingers. Not a lot of good if you dont get the ball aye torres?!?!?!
