i would pop around to see how you canaries are doing. What are your expectations going into next season? I think you will finish 10th, would you be happy with that? I know i would!
Evening! I think we're all (mostly) agreed that surviving again is the important thing, as our plans for stadium expansion are for next summer. Going beyond that though, I think 10th would be great, but personally I'd be content with ~14th as long as the style is improved, and we flirt with relegation far less than we did towards the end of this season. Anything more (7-9th, cups, etc) would be a very nice bonus, which depending on the signings we make (and I'd say the early signs are good) I wouldn't say is an impossibility, depending on how others fare (of course!)
I would be very surprised if we finished as high as tenth. Fulham, Newcastle, and Villa will probably overtake us, so I can see 14th as well. How do you think you'll do?
I'm not so concerned about Fulham, I guess it'll depend on who else they sign, but I can't see them challenging the top 10 at the moment. Villa will probably improve but not hugely (going to say 12th), and Newcastle could go one way or the other. I think Stoke, Sunderland, and the promoted teams will probably be the bottom 5, with perhaps one swapped for a surprise side.
I am assuming Michael Laudrup will stay and we will keep our key players plus new signings like Gomis, Dos Santos, Canas etc. So i think we will finish 8th. I just think we can only improve. In the last 9 seasons we have finished each season a higher place than last. I am also hoping for a decent run in the europa league. For us it is a miracle, Praise the football god because he is shining his light on Swansea city at the moment! And i love it!
It's not just that SwaninPeace, as the Swans have progressed well under Martinez, then Rodgers and finally Laudrup who has seemed a very good fit as well. Michu has been an inspired addition but there's a lot of solidity in the rest of the team as well. Best of luck next year!
Any concerns that Europa games could impact on your league form? Have you got (or do you think you'll sign) the depth in the squad to be able to rotate the squad to cope, or will one end up being sacrificed a bit for the other?
Haha! I hate playing against Norwich, i never expect a point. Norwich just love playing against us and we hate it. I am more scared of you than the likes of Man city and man utd!
Definately a tiny bit concerned, but i think if we do buy the players we are linked to we will have much more depth than Newcastle had last season. I never thought i would say this but i feel quite confident we will finish top 10 in the premier league. Could you pinch me? I need to know if this is real
Yes that is my concern for Swansea as it nearly cost Stoke last year. As a good well run but not large club, the Europa League is a bit of a poisoned chalice and you end up playing lots of games, thereby picking up injuries for no real end reward. As for the Canaries, I seriously think 10th / 11th is on if we buy shrewdly and have better luck with injuries (Ruddy cost us dear last time) and as I have said previously a comfortable 11th not the scratchy end we had last time.
Swaninpeace, you can enjoy a cheeky little pre-Xmas jaunt up to Carrow Road on December 14th Don't expect too many Xmas presents to take back with you in the points dept, though
I would snap your hand off right now for 10th! We need to add quality signings like RVW to make sure we don't get ourselves involved in the fight. The thing I keep saying to people. It's so so hard this season to predict anything! The money has rocketed, teams and going all out. RVW is our club record signing. West Ham just broke theirs with Carroll, and the window hasn't even started yet! So many clubs with new managers. You see the fixtures released today, but who can guess or predict those games yet. Newcastle seem in chaos atm, will it work or crumble?? Noone knows. We have Everton 1st game. Is it good to play Martinez before he gets settled? will a new manager give them that boost? will they still have banes and fellaini? Noone knows. It's going to be such an exciting season. The main thing was, to be here this season, to cash in on this metal money, and secure the finance of our club. What happens from now on cant be predicted. Neil.
I feel like that as well FML. Any serious injuries could cripple any club (well, except the big boys). All the same, City will have 5-6 new players coming in to replace those who hardly featured last year. Anything could happen!
