You must have misread my post where I never mentioned Richards. I thought you wanted Beckham selected ahead of Jack Cork. But anyway, you think playing Beckham at right back would have won us the gold medal? I doubt it. Had Beckham been in midfield to provide the creativity and cutting edge GB seemingly craved I suspect they would have won about as much as England did when Beckham was at his best. Really the only player in that squad whose place you can question ahead of Beckham is Giggs. I think Giggs was the better selection as although slightly older than Beckham he was still playing for a top club in more competitive leagues and competitions. I don't think Beckham would have been a better right back than Richards or forward than Bellamy.
for GOD sake .. is not a must to have one senior in each postilion !!! Spain had 2 seniors in the midfield but none in defense !! .. don't get why you insist about Richard as someone who is a must to have when England lack creativity and cutting edge Jack Cork, Celverly, Ramsey and Allen all kind the same type of players .. i don't get why we have all 4 when England needed an injection of creativity and a cutting edge to work with Giggs ,.. poor giggs who at his age had to play 2-3 matches within a week .. yeahh am sure poor Giggs after a long season and at his age will provide that ?.. it is not a surprise why GB were toothless and flat been and taught a lesson of football by the Korean

in all fairness you didn't said he is a must .. but some here did, every time i put Beckham name upfront, saying nahh Richard deserve it more and still not sure why? why not Glen Johnson? or Cahil who win CL with chelsea? at least Johnson had more experience, which was the whole point of having those 3 senior players.. ok forget all those senior players, why not picking Kyle Walker ? he was u23 and had a great Season with Spurs and was more regular than Richards in his club? the whole point is either to pick u23 or a senior .. and Richards didn't fit any of those
None of the Euro 2012 squad were considered for the Olympic squad so that ruled out Glen Johnson and Gary Cahill. Kyle Walker was injured. Just so I can keep up to speed, has this thread now evolved into a discussion about who should have been in the squad ahead of Richards?
