Apparently Swansea and Cardiff are battling to sign Lyon striker Gomis for a reported 12 million pounds. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/swansea-transfer-news-bafetimbi-gomis-1954636 I personally cant see it happening
Well if the player has to decide betwee us and them there's only one winner unless they trump us on wages of course and that's more important to him than playing in Europe.
A very good signing if it is true and if it came off , he has the same physical attributes as Lukaku ,with a 20 a season goal return at a good standard of football he could be the missing link for us
If according to some people we missed out on Aspas because we weren't prepared to pay over £7 mill for one player I hardly think we gonna spend nearly twice that on Gomis. Personally I would love to think the only reason we lost out on Aspas was because it was Liverpool and not the money. Secondly if we were prepared to pay that much it put paid to the crap that has been written lately about HJ and the Board. Fingers crossed eh!
Can't be that good if he's also linked with Cardiff please log in to view this image On a serious note, he could be the missing link in our side if he is of a similar mold to Lukaku, as some have said.
It's not just the transfer fee though , a £12m player will want substantial wages, I would say close onto £3m or more a year. That will have a detrimental effect in the changing room IMO We operate strict financial constraints on things like this, I can't see us paying this kind of money for this or any other player, no matter who they are.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mdFGIzXFPc&feature=youtu.be some cracking goals there , both feet and head ,don't forget the redtits need to buy Premier ship quality as well as us , so I wouldn't dismiss his quality.
It's getting closer it would be an awesome signing I think Swansea City are winning the race for France star Bafetimbi Gomis as they aim to seal the deal on a new striker. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/swansea-city-winning-race-land-4350227
He's just got 12 months left on his contract. There's a limit to what clubs will pay for a player that can be signed for free in 6 months time... I don't think £12m is realistic...
By*Chris Wathan**|**18 Jun 2013 06:00Swansea City are winning the race for France star Bafetimbi Gomis as they aim to seal the deal on a new striker. And they could land the powerful Lyon frontman for as little as £8m as they seek the frontman to bolster both Premier League and Europa League hopes next season.Swansea have been seeking extra firepower for some time, knowing there is a need to lessen the burden on Michu’s shoulders after the Spaniard’s 22 goals last term. And the perceived failure to land early targets in that position was cited as being one of the sparks to the tension over transfers between the club and manager Michael Laudrup and his agent recently. After an uneasy truce was made between club and manager, there has been a renewed effort to try and nail down a striker to end frustrations and return focus to the club’s challenges ahead. And it appears to be close to paying dividends with Swansea seen to be in the driving seat to grab Gomis. The 27-year-old had already caught the eye with his goals for French giants Lyon, hitting 20 from 40 games last season and helping the side into third in Ligue 1 behind Paris Saint-Germain and Marseilles.
Out of contract in a year, Bafetimbi Gomis could go free the Rhone in 2014 if he does not sign a new lease meantime. Not to let him go free, OL is forced to sell this summer. In an interview with Mag2Lyon in June, Jean-Michel Aulas had invited Gomis to find a new home base during the transfer window. "Bafé's interest to choose a club to play year pre-World Cup in Brazil and will be very happy," launched the Lyon president.
