As expected, Stuart Pearce is not having his contract renewed, so who do we want as the new U21 manager?

    Hoddle?

Dont blame him. Stuart Pearce is best out of that U21 fiasco anyways. A thankless task for whoever gets the gig.

Dont rule out Gareth Southgate but i suspect it will go to an FA YES MAN.

It'll be Peter Taylor or Glenn Hoddle.

I want Hoddle to be the England manager personally.

Taylor would be a step backwards, we need to get more technical, not less.

    Likewise Southgate.

I'd definitely give it to Hoddle.

The prospect of England NOT qualifying for 2014 WC does raise the question of the next manager.

We'll know if we've qualified by November at the latest (when play-offs are held) and I can't imagine Hogdson staying
    if we are eliminated.

Then the merry-go-round starts all over again.

It could be that any English PL manager that has a good first half of the coming season could find himself top of the list.....

The whole system needs an overhaul, otherwise the next few England U21 managers will get the same fate.

Correct and spot on. Lets wait and see what happens with the full England team first. Failure to make Brazil 2014 and the FA should be dismissed et al. A complete foot and branch overhaul is what is needed with natural progression up the age range.

England is lagging so far behind it beggars belief. I blame Roy Hodgson for the U21 shambles for not allowing all the fit and available U21 players to go. That is where we need to start.

Problem is people were saying we needed to do this after we failed to qualify for the Euros in 2008 and then after the ****e performance by the lads in the 2010 WC. But nowt happened.

All this St George's Park will reap it's benefits in 10 years time is pie in the sky and typical from the tossers in the FA.

Needs someone who won't take any ****e from those under performing gobshites. Someone who will kick some ass and make the little ****ers realise what it is to play for England.

    Someone like Di Canio.

We'll end up with someone who not any of those things.

Correct. The FA have failed the English team for years. The FA lost control to the PL back in 1993 and have no power over the big clubs. But to stop our best young players from being part of an U21 finals tournament so that they can play in meaningless friendlies with the seniors is crazy. Sadly the FA needs to be removed before anything else is done. Having that complex @ Burton is like having a Ferrari in the garage with no money for fuel.

I would imagine the best candidate is someone who has a sporting background and experience in nurturing teenagers.

What's Stuart Hall doing when he comes out ?

it needs joined up thinking from someone at the FA - appoint a technical director (not Redknapp please), who then works with all the England coaches (from u-17s upwards) so each team is playing the same system and players know when they move up to the next level, ie from U21s to full international they are playing the same way so it is easier for them to adjust. And then we need to get rid of the problem of when an England manager goes the FA are rooting around for a replacement - ideally appointing from one of the coaches/managers already employed to work with England, this would of course need a leap of faith as the ideal situation would be appointing the best managers/coaches in the country as under 18s manager for example.
    Have I made any sense?

Bullshit. If we had got turned over in Brazil you'd complain that the players weren't there.

I doubt that the likes of Spain and Italy leave their best players in the U21s instead of using them.
