I hope Mkhi is not a direct replacement for Suarez.

So far the window has suggested:

Deals either done or sources suggesting we are in talks, very promising start considering the window isn't open yet!

Papa is another but rumours seem to have died down.

I'd be very happy with those deals + Eriksen (Really want us to sign him!). If Suarez signs then we may need atleast one somewhat proven (atleast a reliable reputable player) or two players to fill the gap. Papadopolous would be nice but at £19m + the knee injury risk, wouldn't be too bad if we missed out. Apparently Strootman is available, wouldn't mind him if we didn't get Eriksen.

Seriously though, if we signed the above list, Eriksen and Strootman, surely 4th can't be too far away after that!?

 

Haven't Man U been following Strootman for a couple of seasons. Not sure but if he moves this summer I think they'll be first in the cue

 

If Suarez goes we will most likely sign a proper striker to.

I said previously that Suarez is to unique and special to replace, so instead we must work with the mind set of building a super from 4.

A report by Russian news agency ITAR-TASS claims that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is to undergo a medical with Liverpool after Shakhtar Donetsk accepted a deal believed to be worth around £25million.

The 24-year-old Armenia international - who scored a record 25 goals in the Ukrainian Premier League last season despite playing as an attacking midfielder - is said to be close to a switch to Anfield but we would urge a little caution as information is sketchy and very speculative at this moment in time, although that may change overnight.

According to KOPTALK sources, Shakhtar haven't been easy to deal with so far and competition from other clubs have been making things difficult. However, if he has been granted permission to hold talks with Liverpool then a transfer fee must have been agreed and a bid accepted by Shakhtar.It would be a fantastic coup for Liverpool if he is snapped up so let's see what develops over the next 24 hours when closer sources are briefed.

We are improving the squad the signings of Toure and Aspas, and potential signings of Ilori and Alberto - my concern is that whilst this improves squad depth, the first team quality will remain the same (and probably decrease if we lose Suarez).

Need to get Henri Mikhi and Papa in then I'll be very confident going into next season.

 

Looking forward to seeing Micky come in, but will it make up for the loss of Suarez?

Add Eriksen too, then that would please me. We seem to know our likely targets at the moment. I wonder if there will be any surprises?

 

Well it seems to me the echo have a clear line on this.

I would kind of interpret it as we are trying to get in quick on this deal before someone else comes in. Its interesting the echo called it ambitious

for me they are most strong on alberto and seem to be putting that one down as a done deal nearly.

All others seem to be playing the price is right at the moment so i think no formal bids are in and i think "this week" doesn't mean much.

It will be interesting I guess.

There it is. I know wages are all in there but if we're getting rid of Carroll, Downing & Reina along with Carragher leaving that should balance out. That's pretty much our budget spent isn't it?

So assuming Suarez stays do we think that the new squad is improved enough for top four competitiveness?

Obviously if Suarez goes we'll have 40-50 to replace him.

 

if that happens Frank then it would be yes for me.

not so much the first team, although that should with Myri etc but more the options from the bench, look much stronger than say a Shelvey or Downing to come on.

 

Where did the £20m in January come from then?

 

I suspect the budget may be ore than £20m. The funds will just only be released for the 'right player'.

 

I dont think Erikson would be the right pick. I'd prefer some one who is able to lead the line, as well as play wide and deep.

 

FSG have change their stance a few times so this may not apply but, when they first arrived they said there wouldn't be a budget as such, instead it would be as you said; funds will be available if the right player is there.

 

FSG are allowing "flexibility" once it balances.

It definitely looks more attacking on paper to me. More fluid up top. We'll see how the defence turns out lol
