As it seems we're no longer in for Schmeichel, Hobbs is unlikely to be coming back to you. For the record, I don't think the player offered was Hobbs, at least not if the numbers quoted are correct. If it had been £1.5m + Hobbs, then I might just have bought it, but for £2m and a player I think it would have to be Stewart or Evans, it's too big a jump otherwise(there's no way we bid £1.25m, then £1.5m, then £1.75m and suddenly jumped to more like £3m).
Even 3M is nowhere near the asking price so its possible. You know your club better then us so we will take your word for it. I cant see us being interested in either Evans or Stewart. Since we bid for Stewart his career has gone down massively and we have signed Ben Marshall and Anthony Knockaert. And me personally i dont rate Evans and dont see him being good enough to challenge Matty James or Andy King We would be better off keeping Danny Drinkwater
Disagree with all of the above - you can get a fair idea of a player's ability by watching his technique and decision making - if we use your 'thermometer' then Anthony Knockaert is vastly overrated because he is flamboyant ... rather than a guy with bags of skill and potential... can't have it both ways I really wanted us to keep Bamba and have him and Morgan develop as a central pairing - their combined attributes would have been awesome at this level - Bamba played every game for Ivory Coast in the last African Cup of Nations in a defence that was tighter than a pixie's condom - if you truly believe that Hobbs and Morgan would be a better combination then I think it is you that needs a cranium check (off your rocker - to use your terminology)
Its a bit different comparing a winger to a centre half. We never looked solid with Sol Bamba at the back. Because despite him playing well he left his partner exposed. When we made the play offs not 1 person criticised Jack Hobbs once. Jack Hobbs is a solid defender who does the job and thats exactly what you need in the championship
That's the point though Proud - we need to be recruiting players who are going to be able to cope in the League above - i disagree with you about Bamba, I do believe he could have played in the premiership - that's why Everton were interested him.
We will cross that bridge when we get to it. First lets get out of this league before worrying about that
In theory that's obviously true, but it rarely happens. That's particularly true this season, Cardiff have half a dozen Premier League players, we have a couple less and Palace only have a couple, if that. In previous seasons, there have been clubs that have had gone up with an almost competitive squad, probably Swansea most recently. Though we'd all like to go up with a squad ready to compete, I think almost all clubs put together a decent Championship squad, then worry about their shortcomings once they actually get there.
I would say that you don't actually have any PL players and are a glitch in the stats, with Swansea as you say. 9/10 times you won't go up without players with PL experience/quality.
@SkySportsNews: Sky sources: Udinese reject £8m bid from an unnamed Premier League club for Matej Vydra #SSN Madness
What for a player who has only played 1 season in the championship. Im not saying he is a bad player because clearly he is very good but he isnt worth 8M. There is a reason Udiense loaned him out instead of playing him He only scored 2 more goals then Chris Wood. We paid around 1.5M for him so how do you justify 8M for Vydra
I'm with you here AKCJ - the boy is a fabulous talent and will eventually be going for a lot more than that - it's not just his goal scoring (but have a look at the quality of his goals last season if you can access a video) it is his movement and technique - as to price, Jordan Rhodes went for £8 million and this boy is already twice as good as Jordan .. it's all about opinions of course but I would bet this boy is a Champions League regular in years to come ...
Hooper's now told Celtic he wants to leave this summer, so we might not have to cough up much more to secure his services.
Afraid so, the Celtic board on here seems to have a mental age of seven and an IQ that's even lower...
