Manchester United are not willing to match Aston Villa's valuation of Ashley Young, this
would give opportunity to Liverpool to place a bid if Young is willing to come to Anfield.
If Manchester United eventually pays the asking price for Young, he is unlikely to
play week in week out as United have about two other players in that position.
It is better for Young to come to Anfield.;)

What does everyone reckon of Young? I've heard from many Villa fans that they'd be more upset at the prospect of losing Downing than Young, cus he's more consistent. Welcome to the Forum btw <ok>

I would rather a Marin or Mata but I would not be displeased with Young. I just feel if we can, we need top top wingers and for the right price. For me Young falls into the N'zog bracket and one I would take but not my first choice. N'zog might be cheaper.

I wouldn't mind young, but if it means the likes of mata won't be pursued, then I wouldn't lose sleep if he went to MU instead.

Is it just me, or are we only linked with left wingers? Mata, Marin, Young, N'Zogbia, Vargas, Elia, Ayew... Can any of these guys play on the right? Although, saying that, I think Hazard and Sanchez play right (or can) don't they? Not that those two are as realistic signings as the others though.

I thought Ayew was right footed if not a right winger? I think marin can operate both same with Young? Not sure about perotti.

Marin would be a good buy, very talented player and would be reasonably cheap too.

I think only cheap as WB had a terrible year, I remember I think a year or two ago he was in the 20 mil range, right after or around the time Ozil left.

Yeah thats what I meant. I think he can also play in the middle as well as being a winger, the main problem would be his height I guess.

I think Carroll has enough height for them all! Have suarez and marin running around would be nice, for height reasons and work could always sling Kuyt in there if need be or N'gog........ok maybe not him.

Hazard and N'Zogbia are mainly left wingers, but I think most of the others can play either side. Like Park or Nani at United or Nasri at Arsenal. Most modern wingers are being trained to play both wings now - helps them confuse their full backs and switch sides to mix it up for the defence. They'll still have a stronger side, but will be competent on the other.

I'll add to that Swarbs, the new fad is the inverted winger, being able to cut in and strike. Depends on what the manager wants, wingers to get down the line, or come inside and be creative.

If Man United aren't willing to pay the price then we should step in and rub their noses in it.They are the ones that have been boasting about that they are signing this player and that player. All we've done is mention ''possibilities''.It now seems unlikely that they are getting Modric as Spurs have slammed the door shut on him leaving. They definitely won't take either Carrick or Berbatov in part exchange as they don't want either of them back. Its a sure sign that a club has less money than it letting on when its offering player exchanges. We know that because when Rafa was boss, and his hands were tied he tried to offer player exchanges for different players.I also reckon Gill is telling porkies when he's mentioning cash of £135 million being in the bank. Its all a PR stunt to prevent another embarrassing ''Green and Vomit'' protest. Its embarrassing for him and it will be even more embarrassing for Ferguson if this summer he supports it,as he will be made look what he is...a hypocrite..

Lol, inverted winger sounds like Giggsy doing a 69 on Imogen (had to say it before KPR did :D)

    Inverted winger.?
    Swarbs,wasn't that what Ronaldo was?
He could play wide but he tended to drift centrally and he had players around him ie Rooney and Tevez that filled in the space.
John Barnes was another that did it.He came centrally and Peter Beardsley covered his position.Peter Beardsley dropped deep also to feed him centrally,in the same way Rooney did for Ronaldo.I reckon Liverpool are set up now to play with an inverted winger. As they have Andy Carroll to play up top and Suarez to interchange with an inverted winger and also to drop off and feed him centrally. They also need someone energetic ie a Ray Houghton type for the other side. They also need a deep-lying play maker to dictate the tempo moreso in away games.

I'd take Ashley Young for around £15M. That, I believe, is his value. If Aston Villa demand around £20M-25M, i'd have reservations about buying him for that price.

I don't think they can because he's in the last year of his contract. If he had 3 years left they could slap a £20-£25 million price tag on him.If its true that Man United have baulked at the £15 million fee, then we're in with a great chance.

You would love to have him,but your debt ridden club can't afford him,Baconface has reportedly offered Bebe Carrick and Obertan in exchange.Aston Villa wanted £14,999,999.99 plus those three.Aston Villa valued those three at a combined 1p.
