Anybody going to watch it ? I think Spain have to still be the favourites to win it even though I think the way they play is soo boring !

Tonight however I am rooting for Japan

With you all the way- I think Spain will win it, mainly by strangling the matches they play in, and tonight I'm Turning Japanese too!

Sorry gotta back Tahiti all the way - Would love to see them score or keep a clean-sheet in the competition.

Seriously though I think Uruguay could do very well...

I would also love some sort of positive outcome for Tahiti :) I'm looking forward to Spain vs Uruguay looks like a great fixture in prospect. will be interesting to see Cavani play as I here there is a lot of interest in him from premier league clubs

Looks like Spain have far too much for them too. At least they're a bit more entertaining now than they were in the last World Cup.

Hopefully a year on, Germany will be full of confidence, ideally with another year of Bayern/Dortmund/(maybe even Schalke/Bayer) dominance. I always enjoy watching German teams, I'd enjoy seeing them do well.

On the other hand, maybe the Argies are finally coming good...

    Sorry, ignore my previous comment.

England will definitely win the World Cup, beating Germany 5-0 in the final and Argentina 1-0 (95th minute handball) in the semi-final. <ok>

    Vindaloo.

I'd be very confident of England qualifying. As I see it, on recent form it's between you and Ukraine for top spot, and if you finish second, you'll be seeded in the playoffs and get to play someone like Austria or Albania.

If Ukraine beat England in September, I'll stick some money on England to qualify - no value in it at the moment.

    Big game today for Tahiti...

Not sure if I would trust England to win against Austria to be honest...

Austria are mediocre. Even Ireland should've beaten them, and Ireland try to avoid beating anyone at home as it's not very nice to guests.

They might have a decent team in 4 years' time, but England would be fine against them.

Any predictions for Nigeria v Tahiti? I'll go for 5-0

Pirlo and Balotelli were different class last night - wonderful to watch.

I have to say, watching this game tonight, Tahiti are a damned sight better to watch than San Marino were against England - their attacking intent, even when faced with a complete stuffing is admirable.

Better than San Marino sure, but that shouldn't really be a big surprise.

    Population of San Marino: 32,500
    Population of Tahiti: 178,000

I think they're worse than Faroe Islands though. Nigeria not covering themselves in glory, though it is a hiding to nowt

Yes, I accept that but what I'm talking about is the built-in inferiority complex that some of the smaller teams seem to take the field with and their seeming inability to get out of their own half. At least they're giving it a go tonight. Agree also that Nigeria are pretty awful tonight.

By this measure, shouldn't China be playing India in the World Cup final? <laugh>

Thoroughly enjoyed the game last night, but I have a feeling Spain aren't going to be quite as generous in Tahiti's next outing...

Solid behind Tahiti against Spain, along with most of the Maracana, but after a good half hour, Spain are imposing the harsh reality of tica-taca football. Time for bed !

Hellfire, Navas looks a bit handy.

Tahiti never stopped playing and trying and kept their heads up throughout and Spain showed them absolute respect - very entertaining. <ok>
