    In today's Daily Mail online:

A High court writ issued by Dennis Wise against Tony Jimenez signals the break-up of the close football relationship between the pair who were dubbed the 'Cockney Mafia' during their unpopular partnership at Newcastle.

Wise is claiming £616,000 in alleged monies owed from property developer Jimenez over an investment in French golf resort Les Bordes outside Paris.

Jimenez, in turn, is understood to be counter-suing over a property deal in Cyprus and an action connected to their time at Newcastle.

The influence of Jimenez and Wise on player recruitment during their time at Newcastle led to club icon Kevin Keegan quitting. Jimenez, now co-owner of League One leaders Charlton, had been widely expected to appoint Wise as manager at The Valley but did not.

There are conflicting views from the two camps as to whether Wise turned down the post or was overlooked.

Not reassuring for our future to have people like that in charge.

A while ago I was listening to Kevin Keegan being interviewed by Steve Harmison. He was very scathing about Jiminez and Wise at Newcastle. I believe the court case is tomorrow at 10 or 10.30. They deserve each other.

No, it's recent. Just sloppy cut-and-paste journalism (What else you expect from that rag? A2C put me straight on the Malice).

But I forgive them because it slipped past my notice too and I was once a copy-editor!

I thought we were auotmatically relegated, due to not being able to complete the season. A real shame, just a few more days needed to reach 30th June. Onwards to Shrewsbury, Gillingham etc...

The court case is about £616,000? I thought it was a serious case, big money involved, but if it's just that amount, I'm surprised they've even bothered.

Agreed, IA - the lawyers bill will be bigger than that.

This feels like a grudge match to me.

"Mr Jimenez is asking the judge to dismiss the claim in its entirety and also order Mr Wise to pay the legal costs, already approaching £1million."

    Mystic Tewkes sees all... <laugh>

    Thanks for posting TC. <ok>
