Good call Yarco. The biggest comparison for me is when the two are asked to speak. Golfers tend to be eloquent and respectful, footballers...........
top guy had the pleasure of meeting him, ok it was not long after his birkdale effort in 98, but he seemed like he had his head screwed on then.
we all saw his potential at 17 and wondered if he could produce the goods in the long term. he's been through some bad times but it's great to see someone who is genuinely likeable and has a personality win something. difficult not to be pleased for the guy.
Well done to another South African who has won a Golf major! One day we might actually have an Englishman win it!
Watch the kids getting dropped off at a junior golf open by there parents in there flash cars, then watch the kids getting dropped off at the power league on a saturday morning in there fiat puntos, could explain alot me thinks.
Considering he was only 5 yrs old when he moved to England, that's good enough for me Is it being so happy and positive that keeps you going?
2 of the 3 best batsmen in the current England Test Team are South African but I suppose that's good enough for me!
Most golfers (but NOT al) have fairly wealthy parents - says he who struggles to get below 110 for a round!!! I know, as I sometimes go up to my local driving range on a Sat morning and it's mostly 'luxuey' cars in the car park dropping their offpring off for lessons. If you do see a Ford focus or eqivalent dropping a child off, then it's probably 'the 2nd car'!!! Regarding footballers' ability to spek clearly - I always remember a joke Jo Brand told. "Look at David Beckham (when he was still palaying for ManUre) - the body of Adonis, the football skills of Pele and the voice of 'Tinky Winky'!!!" Says it all really.
