If the problem was that, they would be playing in Spain, Germany, Italy, and France. They aren't. edit: well... Jay Bothroyd went to Perugia.
it isn't the high number of foreign players in the Prem that is damaging the England team, it's the fact that the English players are crap; this is the reason why there are so many foreign players not the other way round.
One of the reasons why the English players are not up to the mark....is the different systems they are made to play. When the clubs decide to play defensively, the players are not allowed to develop their flare. With clubs constantly changing their style is it any wonder that the English coach who has yet another style of play has problems. Look at any of our main rivals in the footballing world....The Dutch are probably the best example. Their style of play does not alter that much all through their leagues, yes tactically their game does change a bit but not to such a large degree. In other words their development strategy over the footballers career is pretty much the same all the way through, unlike our players. Well at least that is my opinion.
I watched Spain last night, and I won't do it again. Why? Because it's utterly depressing that the teams I support (Liverpool and England) will definitely never play to that standard for the rest of my life. The problem is not with PL teams buying foreign, (they buy foreign because English players are not that good and aren't value for money), it is with the FA and coaches. Germany , Italy and Spain have 10x more football coaches than we do, and they are to a higher standard. Players are taught how to play with the ball, not play without it. It will take years to undo the mess English football finds itself in, and it needs to start from the ground up and at schools, no point trying to teach our current players new tricks.
Sir Red... the others here will tell you that you don't want to get me started on this very subject ... now where is my soap box?
Go on, FLT. Let's have it again. One more time..! Actually, I'd seriously like to know what you think in detail because I've forgotten.
