Joe Kinnear has revealed he has signed a three-year deal to return to Newcastle as the club's director of football.
The 66-year-old former Magpies manager met with the club's owner Mike Ashley on Sunday to sign the agreement.
Kinnear has told Sky Sports News that his main job will be to oversee the style of football that the club will be playing and he will deal mainly with player recruitment and transfers.
He insists will be there solely to help out current manager Alan Pardew, rather than replace him, and he is looking forward to sitting down and planning for the new season with Pardew.
Derek Llambias, the current managing director, will now be dealing more with the financial side of the club, with Kinnear dealing with the football side.
Kinnear managed Newcastle for six months during the 2008/9 season but was forced to step aside after suffering a heart attack, shortly before the club were relegated from the Premier League.
The Irishman, who has also managed at Wimbledon, Luton and Nottingham Forest, will travel up to Tyneside on Thursday and will be at the training ground on Friday to tie up some loose ends.
He told Sky Sports News: "It's absolutely done. I signed it with Mike today and that's taken care of. I think it is a very interesting role for myself and I don't think I could be at a better club doing it.
"I have been in discussions with Mike and once we clarified the situation and what my role would be, ie. in charge of transfers and looking at the strengths and weaknesses of the side that we have got and to help out Alan Pardew in every possible way that I can and use all the experience that I have from the game.
"I intend to meet Alan either tomorrow (Monday) or within the coming week to discuss the future and go through the team itself.
"Our target is that we have got to push ourselves up and try and do as well as we did a couple of seasons ago.
"I am as fit as a fiddle now. I am in the best physical shape that I have ever been and I have been waiting for the opportunity. I have had a great football career and I think I am ideal for this situation and I am looking forward to it.
"What I can offer is that I believe that I am a very good judge of players, I believe that I am a good tactician and I believe that anything to do with football I have been involved in; I've worked with the best, I have been with the best and I intend to make Newcastle far better than they are now.
"I think I have got a bright head, I think I can see a good player and know a good player and get the right players in for us to be successful.
"I have no other agenda - that is exactly what I want to do - and if I see players at the club right now and I believe they are not good enough to be at Newcastle then I intend to move them on."

"Sorry Mike, I was so ****ing exfuckingcited. This is ****ing bastard unbelievable...."
"Settle down Joe, you'll have a hearty"
"**** you Mike you ****ing fat ****ing bastard"
"Remember Joe, you're in a position of authority and respect now, you need to be professional"

It's that last line I don't get. He's DoF so he's bound to have a say on incomings transfers, I understand that. But who is he to tell Pardew (as inept as Pardew is) that "player X is **** and player Y isn't good enough either so I'm selling them"??? I mean what if they form part of Pardew's team?

As i've said in another thread i'd bet my house on the fact that one of Pardew or Kinnear won't be here at the end of the season I confidently predict Joe will still have a seat in our dugout come the last home game of the season.

From what I'm reading Kinnear will tell Pardew tactics and philosophy for the team, stuff Pards really doesn't have a grip on. Transfers I'm sure will be left to Carr. Hopefully he will come no where near the playing staff what so ever and just leave Pardew as a glorified coach.

Still agree there must, MUST be someone in the world better suited to the role than ****ing Kinnear!

In his defence Kinnear did sign Nolan and we all know what he did to the Mackems <ok>

He also signed Ryan Taylor and we all know what he did to the Mackems too <ok>

I'm surprised they're so overjoyed by his appointment...

You never know he might publicly insult and alienate our players with heavy handed 'disciplinarian' tactics so much that our two best performers and talents leave the club.

What was it that Nolan and Raylor did to the Mackems again?

    YOU'VE GOT TO BE F*CKING SH*TING ME!!!

This is c*nting madness. Why on earth put this loud-mouth dinosaur in charge of transfers and style of play...the f*ckers sh*theap teams have never played a lick of good football in his entire career.

FFS, if they had to bring in one of their cockney oldboys then why not bring in someone like Glenn Roeder who at least has a modicum of sense about him.

Why do I get the feeling that we have yet to sign anyone because we've been trying to get Joe YourKiddinear "over the line".

This is some Earth 2 sh*t right here, has Ashley had a f*cking stroke or something the belligerent bell-end.

This is were I draw the line with this clubs management...

NO home match tickets will be bought
    No merchandise will be bought

Look at how hard Sky are running this story, they know Ashley has got the fans back up again and smell blood in the water...Disaster Club is BACK!!!

    I've had enough...COCKNEY MAFIA OUT!!!

no fukin joke in ere, except fukin joe kinnear.
terrible jokes aside this fills me with utter dread, the point about raylor and nolan is accurate so i just hope for solid english players whose heart helps them exceed their ability because its been my view that the shifting out of those types over these last two seasons has been worse for the team. Sadly the fact is i had the least faith in him of all our managers (supporting circa 1st keegan era) so nothing gives me confidence in him having ANY involvement with Newcastle
