As director of football. Allegedly, awful stuff if true. At least he'll support Pardew's dreadful way of playing.

    Link doesn't work...

Perhaps it will be handy to have Joe on stand-by for when Pardew gets sacked at Christmas...

Newcastle United look into appointing director of football

Former NUFC boss Joe Kinnear is a candidate to return to St James' Park after the Magpies held talks to install a director of football

Newcastle United have held talks to install a director of football.

And former Toon boss Joe Kinnear is in contention to take the position.

The Magpies have had meetings to restructure their back room team and it has emerged that Kinnear could make a shock return to St James' Park.

    More to follow.

Alan Shearer hasn't been a successful Manager yet, so I think it's a little soon to be making him DOF.

    ****ing embarrassing.

I'm sorry but what a **** appointment, a director of football needs to have contacts all over the world etc. All of JFK contacts are probably either dead or or out of the game.

I really try to avoid giving MA & DL stick because the fact remains they're here for the long term and they have a plan in place to help the club progress (whether it works remains to be seen) and like it or not MA saved the club financially and his scheme to have the club running self sufficiently financially is admirable.

If he gets appointed in I'm joining the "Pardew In" club because if he gets sacked we all know who his successor will be...that is how much I'm against this idea!

I don't have the words. Well I do, but Joe wouldn't want to hear them.

A good chunk of people on here have been quite optimistic about next season. THIS is what our club is about. One step forward then two ****ing steps backwards. No one of sound ****ing mind can justify this. It's jobs for the boys in its most base form. When Pardew inevitably gets sacked early next season I don't even want to think about what will happen if this oaf slips in.

Jesus suffering ****, I just can't believe it. We are a laughing stock once again. The Mackems are laughing as is everyone else - and rightly so. We have appointed a dinosaur bottom-feeder. Whilst Sunderland appoint a DOF with useful contacts, we have hired a fat useless bastard. What the **** can this man do to benefit our football club?

    It's absolutely disgusting.

There can only be one reason behind this, and someone hit on it above. The club are aware that many fans aren't behind Pardew, and so have appointed Kinnear in the knowledge that many of these will now change tact and get behind the manager, knowing the terrifying alternative.

I personally think a director of football will work well, however the chemistry between manager and director of football has to be one of mutual respect, understanding of priorities, a willingness to accept each others views, look after his back and then work together to achieve the appropriate goals.

I'm of the opinion that Pardew will need more than one person to fill the role and as he's probably out on the piss I can't contact him, however I'm sure Warm Pouch and myself are just the two fellows to rise to the challenge and fill the incredibly small, gimp like shoes left by that jam strangling f*ckwit Dennis Wise.
