Liverpool are a step up from us right now but not that big a step as it would have been say 20 years ago. They are a spent force these days and if the MIG wants to move to better himself, which is perfectly understandable, he should surely set his sights much higher than the bin dippers.
But that's not what our argument is. It isn't about which club is bigger, it's about weather Liverpool are big enough to satisfy his ambitions which they most certainly are not. If he moves to liverpool then he plays the same teams and tested against the same quality as he would with us. In terms of his ambition it is a side step. If arsenal come in I have no problem at all. I think he'll turn down liverpool. He only needs one season in the champions league to turn heads, and that can be done next season with Arsenal, not liverpool.
There is no argument to that cameltoe.. How is mignolet gonna knock courtois off the no1 position if he is playing for a prem league team who has finished outside the top 4? So if i was the Belgium coach and had the choice of picking Courtois who has played champions leagfue for atletico or mignolet who has played f***ing terrific for sunderland and moved to liverpool who still wont play champions league.. Who am i gonna pick as my no 1?
That's nonsense. If they're a better side it's a step forward in his career, end of. I've underlined the parts that are pure speculation
I understand your point. But 24 is still a very young age for a keeper so perhaps he'd be willing to wait a season or two, we're not in Europe in any capacity next season but our squad is starting to take shape nicely with a few good signings already done before the window is has even opened (Bare in mind I'm including the Europa in that). Of course the easy argument at the moment is "Well when Suarez leaves you'll be a mid-table side" which is fine, but without him last season and the season before last when he was banned we've still had a very good win %. Also, Coutinho has really softened the blow as he looks a great player - 40-50m Also helps. Of course Liverpool and Sunderland will still be in same competitions and that is a fair point, but as I've already stated when you look at both teams potential to succeed in the coming seasons you could argue we have more to offer. The only way we can close the gap between us and the teams above is by buying good players. And the reaction from this board about the whole transfer encourages me. Are Arsenal in for him too? 10m seems a lot for them, especially for a GK. And as you've mentioned they are in the CL so they could easily look elsewhere and find an equally decent keeper for about the same price or less. Not saying it wont happen as they have the funds, but the transfer over to us seems to be far in progress?
There's 16 other teams that could be seen as a step up mate. does that make everyone of them the right move in the progress of his career? Of course not. I'm going to use your logic and say Krul moving to west ham would be a step up, or Colo moving to everton would be best for him? That would be right by your logic wouldn't it? Only it's absurd!
A very good post to be fair mate Facts are though, Mignolet is unquestionably of a standard to be playing CL football already, he pisses all over Arsenal's keeper (who I can't spell...), and is superior to De Gea. He's better than Valdes at Barca, he's better than Bravo at Real Sociedad, he's better than Leno at Leverkusen and Unerstall at Schalke. He's better than Abbiati at Milan and De Sanctis at Napoli (admittedly mainly as both are ageing now..) There are CL teams he could waltz into, so to wait for Liverpool, a year for Europe, and possibly many more for CL, to qualify again makes little sense. The club is higher profile, granted, but so ****. It's not a great move for a keeper of such outstanding ability, there's no getting around that fact. He won't get past Curtois whatever he does, as Curtois is a better keeper, simple as that, Curtois is incredible, we'll all see when he replacs Cech season after next.
This is much better, thank you sir. Good points, but we see Mig every week, liverpool fans are on the fence and rightly so, you haven't seen as much of him. Our point is we know he's good enough for the champions league now. So know a move to liverpool won't hold any benefit, only delay inevitable that he'll be playing champions league football every season. I know a counter argument could be we're bias but honestly mate we're not, we're brutally honest when it comes to our club and most of it is filled with dross, Jury out on the new signings of course. I think Arsenal will spend this summer, they're in for Stokes keeper too (can't spell his name) but he's valued higher. him and mig seem to be their top keeper targets. Think they're looking to wipe out their keeper problems once and for all.
That's fair enough mate. I don't doubt his quality, saw him plenty of times last season and he was outstanding. Though one argument I do have is that we, in recent times have turned some good players in to great players. We very rarely buy world class players. Suarez, Torres, Reina etc were all renowned as good players but under us their progression accelerated, even Suarez, who as a lot of you have mentioned has played in a side without CL and is now on the verge of moving to Real Madrid arguably the biggest club in the world. And he could of easily picked a CL team ahead of us, saying that he was in a CL team before he joined.
I agree to a point mate, but Suarez was a natural talent, I'd been sharking him on forums for 2 years, he was already world class. I'm not gonna get embroiled in the slanging, but I do think Mig should be aiming higher at the minute, no slight on Liverpool, but he's 24, he should be looking to play CL now. He should consider that Curtois will be playing CL football at Atletico, and he is already behind him in the coach's thoughts.
Dickface? Mature. As far as I was aware no CL club is interested in him, so his choice is first choice for us, or for you, which do you reckon he'd prefer and would get him no1 spot for national team?
Neither Sunderland nor Liverpool will get him past Curtois. Liverpool may well DROP the lad due to his weak distribution anyway, then he'd be ****ed.
I think it is an insult that Liverpool have offered just 8 million for the lad, and this offer should be treat with the contempt that it deserves....He is undoubtedly an excellent keeper, and it does surprise me that if he is going to move, he is not hanging back for one of the real top clubs to come in with an offer..
Apoligise, i meant cockface Arsenal have been after him. Now tell me, did they finish above you in the league?
The Mig will never get past Courtois & you forgot to say, mignolet is weak on crosses & he doesn't command his penalty area.
I find a move to Liverpool a bit odd. He may have been sold on the progress they've made under Rogers, but there's no CL for at least a year and there's no guarantees they'll make it year after next either. LFC are a big club, for sure, but right now they're a fair way down the PL pecking order.
