He probably will. He managed to weather the hypocritcal and total witch hunt that was fascism-gate, so it will have to be pretty spectacular. One thing that is guarenteed is thatt it will be exciting, even if he does blow up. But look at my post just above, the club set up has modernised, and the 'manager'/head coach is no longer the be all and end all of the team. For what its worth, Paolo has shown a refreshing attitude and great determinism. He has what it takes to do well.
The only problem I see with this argument is that you say Bruce managed to alienate people and I'd have thought Di Canio's abrasive style might do the same? He seems to be one of those who makes waves wherever he goes and I'm not sure he's the one to bring stability. Anyway, we'll see in time.
Well I guess it down to the player to decide which club he thinks can offer him the best long term career prospects. If he thinks it is Sunderland I guess he stays. If he thinks it is Liverpool and a deal is agreed then he comes to us. Personally if he is good as what you lot seem to think he is then i would not mind signing him but if he decides to stay at Sunderland or if he joins another team in the champions league I won't lose any sleep. I think their is other areas of our teams needs stregthening ahead of goalkeeper anyway.
As devisive as he is, he is as likely to have people buy in to his philosophy and approach as he is to cause trouble. Besides, it will only really be the tarts in the squad he has trouble with, and these aren't really the ones that fit into his mold anyway.
Honestly bud, the best player in his postion last season. And its not often a SAFC fan will say that. He'd be a great acquisition, but as the player has said, he enjoys it here. Whatever happens, happens.
i think personally Di canio will get Sunderland mid table finish. the 3 teams who have come up are weak and would be my favs to go straight back down or at least 2 of them, and i don't see Sunderland as the other option with or without Mignolet. anyone else see Di Canio as another O Neil in the sense they are happy as long as the owner backs them, but as soon as they don't they start moaning and it causes in house problems?
The owner not backing MON was never a problem. £5 mil for Danny Graham ffs. Haha, MONs lack of scouting and British based players is his downfall.
i meant more while MON was at Villa didn't make that clear apologies, also forgot he used to be your manager lol.
To be honest most of the Sunderland fans I have met have been quite realisitc but I have seen since this Mignolet to Liverpool rumour started that they also have their fair share of delusional fans. I know Liverpool are not exactly Barcelona at present but I just can't understand how anyone can say that moving to Liverpool is a side step from Sunderland when Liverpool despite having a **** season finished 22 points ahead of them. How can playing with players like Gerrard, Coutinho and Suarez be a side step from playing with players like Lee Cattermole, Adam Johnson adn Steven Fletcher. Ok we probably wont have Suarez but just using him as an example
Look at the stats for Fletcher. Would score for fun in decent team haha. Do you honestly think people believe what they say about the tow teams being on a par?!?!? If you do... haha.
Duno why we have a slanging match here, Liverpool clearly are a bigger club, and are clearly closer to achieving Europe than us, so it's small progress. He should be going to a CL team though, simple as that, he is easily of that standard and still improving massively. One certain thing, the main reason he is looking at moving is he wants to play in Brazil. He will expect to be told cast iron that he is number one before he moves, which will still be in vain as despite Migs brilliance, Curtois is a better keeper, and will be playing CL for Atletico! I will wish the lad well wherever he goes, but you'll need to add /33-4 million, or a player, to get him I'd imagine.
Haha, obvious typo, but then I remember what you paid for Downing, Carroll & Jordan.... Aye **** it, £33million sounds canny, chuck in Sebastian Coates as well, with games he will be immense
loan deal for Coates might make sense if you played him. can you take Jones off our hands as well lol, he will be good with game time
No more ****ing loans mate, we just improve players and get burned. We have a great academy hence players genuinely do thrive here, Rose prime example, but some ****ing idiot at the club never bothers with a 'buy' clause. We could probs have had Rose for £2million, instead we can't afford him, as Spurs wanna keep him. I'd want Coates permanent, I watched a load of some u21 or u19 tournament about 3 years back and he looked immense, 6'6 and decent on the ball? Now that is a rare talent indeed! You can keep Jones, ta very much, he's ****, we have Westwood, who is excellent, and the rapidly developing England U19 Jordan Pickford, who will hopefully be ready season after next and be our number 1 for 10 years plus.
the english league NEEDS sunderland. that is why i want them to stay up and not struggle. annoying for sunderland is i also want newcastle to do the same. Frankly the english prem as/had too many wigans and not enough sunderlands and this is why the overall quality has dropped continually in the last 5 years.
Mate, I'm die hard Sunderland, but I don't want the scum down (was hilarious that one time mind...) I want Forest, Wednesday, Leeds, Derby, Leicester back! In no small part because they are closer to the North East for away games like.... Off topic, Aspas?? Why? He is not good.
I don't appreciate being told to check my information when that is exactly what I did the first time around, although what I said was probably harsh on reflection. So apologies. If you want to refute what I stated, come back with stats of your own which contradict mine. That would have been more interesting than simply saying to go check mine - which did stink of arrogance and was belittling to suggest I'd not done so in the first place. I'd already read yours on the other thread, which was why I checked and used different ones in here. Point is, Mig doesn't make that many additional saves being at Sunderland than he would at many other clubs. His development will be furthered not by playing games in the league, therefore, but by playing in Europe (which neither of us can offer) or by playing with better quality forwards during training (which we do have). Thus, he'd arguably develop more playing for us and pushing for Europe next year rather than staying with you. That was my point...in a roundabout way. Anyway, stick around, don't feel you need to leave. Multiple opinions are great.
