True Henderson has improved since we played him in centre. Still don't see him as a first 11 player but good squad player
Christ it was like banging my head against a wall trying to have a sensible debate with a couple of them on that board
because you're playing in the same competitions as us. What more are you offering? is he guaranteed to play every game? no, A chance to win silverwear? Wigan won the fa cup and got relegated so don't even go there. You lot seem to think a goalkeeper having to make more saves, block more shots and claim more crosses is worse for his development than doing less. how stupid are you lot? He's too good for us and he's too good for you.
Maybe just maybe this is a manager stating to his "star" players: we want you but we will not beg. All the signings we seem to be linked with seem to be in the positions of our stars. If they stay fine, the old 2 for each position happens but the message is clear: Reina is a prime example: 2 weeks ago when it looked like Valdes was leaving it was all "can't say no to Barca" them Valdes says he's staying and Reina is suddenly stating he was never leaving! Well; here's LFC's answer: you've not continued to show loyalty we understand & thank you for services rendered but we'll plan as if you've already left. If Reina stays then he now has a guy that might just see him sitting on the bench next year. Lets see how impressed with that Barca is. Also says to the Reals & Barca's of the world we'll not take your price & have to rush out scrambling for a replacement; we've already got it so pay what we ask or **** off. Same goes for Suarez....
True we do not have European football to offer next season but if he does sign and I repeat if it may be because he was sold on the long term plan. Obviously we are not the best team in the league right now but the only way to get up there is to buy players better than what we already have and gradually build ourselves up. Rome was not built in a day and all that. I was not convinced at first but I am starting to believe our owners are in it for the long haul and will eventually get us back up with the best and that is the vision we need to sell to young players with long term ambition
You can't be serious...the five saves a match on average that Mignolet makes is not the only thing aiding his development and it's certainly not like moving to a club where he will average 4 saves a match will slow that progress. How stupid are you?
We've got ambition too and we're making changes to the infrastructure to achieve it. So how does liverpool having ambition make the move a 'step up'? Rome wasn't built in a day? Wasn't built in the last 25 years either. He could have retired by the you make the champions league next. None of us can predict the future so you can't use as an argument to say the move would be a step up. Five saves a match? Nah mate, go and check your facts. Me and one of your very own fans combined some stats on your transfer thread and it shows Mig to be much busier than his rivals and maintained an exceptional clean sheet total. I don't think you'll even get him anyway. If a champions league team doesn't come in for him then he'll sign a new contract imo. Watch this space.
I wouldn't even bother to have a debate with a Sunderland fan, i work with two and they are the most dillusional people i have ever met. Yesterdays discussion they were talking about how Di Canio was going to play 4-2-4 which is how Bayern play.....so they were going to be just like them. Anyway each year i have a bet with them of £10 each that Sunderland will not finish in the top eight, it is now such a regular income i may have to start declaring it to the tax man. Best thing is, they want to do £20 each this year, as they are convinced they will be pushing for Europe and may even have the chance of CL FFS
In my opinion Pepe Reina is on his way out, at least he is respecting his contract. Hope he stays with us.
Frankly if Mignolet wants to leave Sunderland for us I'd be inclined to think that he feels liverpool are heading for a position that in his opinion Sunderland don't have the capability of reaching. Saves per match are fundamental for a keeper but the best keepers are able to keep their concentration when then have little to do and perform on the rare occasions they are called upon. Such a test is more likely to occur at liverpool than sunderland.
You arrogant little ****. Why don't you go check your stats? Your stats are from where? They fail to include goals conceded incidently, which is somewhat important. Lets use your stats for now though, to keep you happy. 14.37*0.5805 = 8.34 shots against on target per game on average. 54 goals were scored past you though and Migs played every game so, 54/38 = 1.42 shots per game which weren't saved. 8.34 - 1.42 = 6.92 shots per game which were saved. That's using your stats. They also don't account for shots which dribbled to the goal, shots which were straight at the keeper or whatever else make the save pathetically easy. Finally, shots which hit the woodwork aren't even mentioned by your stats, so no clue if they're included or not. Lets round down to 6 shots saved per game using your stats. I said 5. Wow, you're bigging Mig up to make a WHOLE 1 save per game more using stats for which you haven't even provided a source. http://www.squawka.com/players/simon-mignolet 3.26 saves per game. http://espnfc.com/player/_/id/99829/simon-mignolet?cc=5739# 149 saves total or 3.92 per game. http://www.thescore.com/liga/articles/917050-simon-mignolet-no-more-relegation-battles 6.15 saves per game. Stats range from 3 saves per game to 7 saves per game. I said 5 which, as it happens, is slap bang down the middle. Liverpool's Reina averages 4. So back to my original point, moving to liverpool isn't that big a difference in terms of action.
nah minger is a 3rd choice for us until pepe goes next year... everyone knows Roy only signed top players so Jones is world class..... the only reason the English press miss that is cos he plays for Australia not England.
Of course Liverpool are a step up, a big one too. Currently, they are a bigger team, and a better one. Therefore, Mig will get noticed more. By the very same notion, that is why De Gea was put in the team of the season thingy, despite Mig being the best keeper. If De Gea costs that much... The problem with going to Liverpool, is that alothough they are a bigger club and have a better squad, unless Reina goes, why would he move their and jeopardise his chances for the World Cup? Plus he deserves to be playing Champoins League football, something neither club can offer him. Its not so much that you offer more than us, its more that we don't offer much less.
Reina is still a top keeper imo but if he's leaving then I suppose Mignolet would be an ok replacement, id prefer Begovic. I always thought Mignolet would be out of Sunderland like a light this summer, I can see them being relegation fodder again next season and I don't think Di Canio will last long there.
Really? By the looks of things, we are getting a lot of new faces in quite early, so will be a very different side from last season. Whether thhats for the better, your guess is as good as mine.
All due respect but, hows that worked for you the last two or three times you've tried that approach?
I can see where you are coming from with such a comment to be fair. But you need to look at the circumstances. Bruce actually managed to build a half decent side, however he managed to alienate players/dismantle it just as quickly. He could pick out a good player every so often. Problem was though not being able to keep that side, therefore needing to rebuild, rather than rebuilding for the sake of rebuilding. He wasn't able to do so again. In comes MON, who needed to overhaul the state Bruce left the squad. MON has a track record of buying British based players with little from abroad. This was the case again. The domestic talent pool is limited compared to even say that of Europe, nevermind the entire globe. All the while, the club never had a scouting network. This has all changed, with the change of set up- head coach and director of football and the likes of Di Canio, De Fanti, Angeloni et al. (If you don't know the last two google them.) Our activity thus far in the market shows as much.
Yeah. Nothing against Sunderland and I wish you well but I just think Di Canio will do something that will get him sacked.
