Strange - I'm about 150 miles north of you and it was quite warm last night - we even slept with the windows wide open. Currently sunny and 15C - another day of snoozing in the garden beckons methinks, whilst listening to the gentle thwack of leather on willow as England and NZ battle it out.

    Morning all.

Fathers' Day...what's that? Seems to be a tradition which has escaped the notice of our family.

Trying to rain again here, but I did at least get the grass cut yesterday evening. Coffee and newspaper this morning I think.

Bad day..... just realised I had saved my document yesterday as an attachment and not to my PC.... and as I have found out before - they don't save... so this morning all trace of my work has GONE... I have searched throughout my pc... on temporary internet files etc.... I can find a cached file saved at the time I remember stopping.... but it is just gobbledegook.... :(

    3,500 words GONE.....

Bloomin' freezing here - have had to exchange the shorts for jeans and the t-shirt for a jumper.

If the England v NZ game does not go ahead, both teams get 1 point each. It will mean that NZ will go through, but England will have to rely on Australia beating Sri Lanka to go through <yikes>

Sure we've all done it...but it doesn't stop it being one of the most infuriating things in the world. Hope you can remember the content in as much detail as possible. Have to tell yourself the next version will be even better than what was lost...

    A cabinet member called Gove
Who looks like a pot-bellied stove
    Announced his trump card
    To make exams hard
Which pleased folk in Brighton and Hove

...more educational meddling...make exams harder...fewer people pass them...complain standards are not high enough...say politicians are failing to improve standards...make exams easier....more people pass them...complain they're too easy...make exams harder etc etc. Might be an idea to concentrate on the acquisition of skills and motivation instead of how much you can remember on a single day in June. Just a personal view!

Afternoon all, really hot here today, 34C° and we were able to have dinner outside beneath the shade of parasols. 10 of us, all ex-pats who just love the life-style out here. 6 have been teachers at some sort of level before making the move, and all now take a delight in growing some of their own food. On average returns to England happen about twice a year, but most would go less if it were not for family still living there.

Went to a new restaurant which was OKish, but nothing to set the taste buds tingling. Wine acceptable, but expensive for a non-chateau bottle. Still we managed 4 bottles between us so it couldn't have been too bad. Think that a few exploratory missions to other places are needed before next month. ;)

When you say attachment Yorkie - what was it attached to? If it was attached to an email or another document? If it was a. Email, have you checked the outbox? Have you checked the recent documents folder in WORD? With a file that large WORD would have auto saved it a couple of times whist you were creating it.

Politicians claim responsibility? That's one thing that would never happen - they always blame the teachers, even though the teachers have only implemented the latest hare-brained, idiotic teaching methods insisted upon by the politicians...<grr>

Spot on BB - when will they understand that it is their continued tinkering with eduction and the NHS that is causing the problems.

I have even looked through the last 50 recent docs in Word as you suggest... not there.... just gone.... there seems to be this glitch with word that it doesn save to the email an attached doc.... don't know where it goes or why..... just goes..
