ROD I have not changed regards promotion the aim has to be promotion and i personally think if SoD can move out the rabble and get what he wants in we will do well. The problem is the big fat salaries these players are on,they will struggle to get better elsewhere as they have been poor for us. The manager has his hands tied by these players who could still be here come the seasons start. Anything less than promotion in my book will be a major failure. What i agree with is his words.
You cannot turn an ocean liner around on a sixpence- It takes time and patience- SO'D, I believe is being realistic. Talk can be cheap as we have experienced before- In todays result driven game, I wonder how much time and patience SO'D will get.Not just from the board, but from the fans if results dont go well. The financial side of things is prudent, necessary and overdue- I was told for City to break even, it would need every seat sold at every home game for over £300 each! I still dont see League 1 as a particularly strong division outside the top 6 or 7 and we have every chance to be in the mix at the end of the season-
and we have to take advantage of that. We're 2 favourites for a reason, If we don't make the top 10 then SOD has to go.
Sorry Shiny I can't agree with that. The odds may change by the time the season starts - how can you possibly say what chance we will have now when we don't know how many we'll keep or who will come in? If Albert, Baldock, Davies and Cunningham all go - which isn't impossible - then the team will look pretty weak and our odds may well go right out. SO'D is talking sense and may be warning the fans that we ARE gonna lose a lot of our better players when he says there is more pain to come. We have to be patient because if he needs to replace all of those on little or no money it ain't gonna be easy or quick.
I'm sorry I don't agree, SOD has just succeeded in relegating us and took us down, don't ask me to lower my expectancy, the guy has had his way, he is a clever man and has blamed everyone else, he is now asking us to forgive him before the crime, either do the job or shut your gob, all is I'm hearing is fabricated excuses.. I support SOD but shut up and do your job, you've been around long enough and so have we.. We are waiting...
Well said Robin_unreliant, you hit the nail on the head, with that one word "patient"......one thing that supporters lack these days!
I quite expect those 4 to leave I think a couple of them might put in transfer requests rather than play in L1 if we refuse offers.
I don't think that what we call "fat salaries" are particularly that to the top NPC clubs, probably pretty average so I doubt it will be too much of a problem to shift them, especially Albert, Davies, Cunningham and Baldock who WILL be in demand. Although I would want all of them to stay, Albert will be going and, with my best wishes as he was never anything but loyal to the club (and no, I don't expect him to chose us over his country) and I expect that we will have to let the others go if they want to...
100% agree we will pay them less than what they'd get in the championship . And Albert going to play for his country who would turn that down he's been 100% professional and I shall still keep an eye on how he's doing when he goes completely different to Maynard
