Can he not be a second choice? Valdes is set to stay on at Barca

I'd have thought he has ambitions to be a top keeper so why would he want to park his arse on our bench all the time?

Because its better to be sat on the Liverpool bench than being a 1st team player at Sunderland.

    Hoping Sunderland fans read this.

Money? I bet we'd be offering him 70k at least. Bet he's on half that at Sunderland. And quite frankly 8£mil is what we ought to be paying for a solid second keeper. Especially when we are hoping for CL.

Hahaha you're not a big club anymore, a million miles behind man utd, you're not even the biggest club in Merseyside anymore. A sidewards step for mignolet, he should bide his time and go to a big club

Rodgers said a while ago he wanted 2 players for each outfield position and 3 goal keepers.

But £8m is steep for a deputy.

He wont be back up. If we buy him then Reina is going. Our 3 keepers will be Mignolet, Jones & Gulacsi.

Mignolet wants to go to enchance his chances of being Belgium's number 1 in a WC year. No chance he'd leave just to come and sit on our bench. If he comes, you can bet your life he'll be asking if he is going to be the number 1.

I can only assume Reina is going if we actually sign Mignolet. I doubt we would spend what i think is a British record for a keeper just to keep him on the bench and I doubt we would keep a keeper being paid £100K plus a week as our number 2.

Behave yourself, as if he's going to sign as your No.2 ffs. If he comes it'll be as Reina's replacement.

Sorry to see pepe go but fairly happy with him as a replacement, plus as has been mentioned on here a lot , pepe has not been the same the last two seasons.

I don't think it would be inconceivable for him to be a second keeper - perhaps BR is looking back at the season and seeing that jones had to play a fair few games due to pepe being out and should that occur again we need to have a proper number 2 so we do t suffer

This is what I hope anyway :-/

Mignolet is too good to be a second keeper - particuarly for a club not even in Europe. I'd love him to be the backup, but find it hard to see that happening. Either Reina is leaving this season and Mig comes in to directly replace, or, at a stretch, Reina's going next season when Valdes leaves and the two will compete here for this season with Mig taking the number 1 spot next season. That's a real stretch though...
