    Dear forum:
I was asked what I wanted by my family, I asked for a BBQ smoker. Is this too much? They'll all get to eat the grub that I'll cook on it. But they where thinking along the lines four bottles of beer and a card!
What do I do to hide my disappointment? Cos I know they will want to come round for our traditional.....guess what....Fathers Day... BBQ!

Stick to your guns! BBQ Smoker's are frigging AMAZING! Loads of recipes for marinades online too. What's not to love about cheap cut of beef/pork/lamp, marinade, smoked through the day, topping up water, poking the coals etc etc, all the while, you can NOT go shopping with the missus cos you have to tend the smoker. Sat in the garden *busy tending it* whilst drinking beer.

    AWESOME!

I have a home made one with empty Bacardi Eight tins as the chimney, but the temperature is hard to control. I want one that looks like an old traction engine. Two favourites Chicken thighs smoked with hickory chips and our secret family special...Matheusons smoked sausages cut into four pieces. I started to make my own marinades with Bacardi Eight and molasses, but got pissed test tasting them and forgot what I did.

You should just drink the booze you get, sort out your own smoker, and do the BBQ anyway.

    I'm sure you'll have a cracker.

My old man got his present last week when I told him I'd been seeing a bird. He nearly fell ovver.

    The clever ****.

    He's never been funny...

My son had to work Saturdays and I knew he was late, so I knocked on the door and walked straight in. Spread eagled across his bed was a naked fully blond girl, absolute stunner, she just lay there and smiled. I went and told the wife what I had seen, we both turned to each other and said thank **** for that!

4 bottles of beer? You lucky bastard. I'll get a "comedy" t-shirt as usual. Although I am being taken to a nice restaurant for Sunday lunch

Did you see the reviews about BBQs? A £10 one from Asda was supposed to be as good as a £1,000 one.

I like your dad, he sounds ace!

lol, you had doubts?? Also, Im not sure if its obvious but the idea is to marinade the meat before you cook it, not pickle yerself while you're cooking it! I love the sound of your smoker, put a photo up of it!

Eh? You can't knock the cheapys you see, but almost nothing touches a Weber for quality in all areas....got a link to that?

    It's the least I deserve.

I agree with Peter cheap bbq's do the job just as well. We got rid of the BBQ couple of years ago. **** weather and too lazy to clean it.

F*** these poncey barbeques! I've got an old cast-iron hibachi that I discovered some litter-lout had dumped in a hedge.

Two jobs done in one - outdoor grill acquired and litter cleared up.

My first BBQ was made from a carry cot stand, with an old oven tray over a cut out tin can!

If I'm really into a subject I'll spend a lot on equipment but otherwise I'll just get cheap stuff and replace it regularly.

I used to spend £60-£80 on computer mice and they wouldn't last long enough to justify the cost so now I'll spend £8-£15 on them and change them regularly. I usually bring myself to change the batteries before giving up totally though!

I go to Nigeria quite often and there they make there own smokers, so just buy an old oil drum, several steel rods some shaving from the wood yard, and bob's your uncle, a smoker for the price of a few beers.
