Zarate is the man. If we get him, enjoy him cause we won't have him long. But he'll make us a lot of money.
I think Sess is overrated mate & I would have Zarate over him anyday of the week. I can't see us signing Zarate anyway.
My worry is that our friends up the road bought a load from France in January and it didn't really work out for them, now we are shipping in a load of Italians/French players, are we liable to have the same run of poor results until they all bed in , sorry to put a dampener on all this speculation but being a Sunderland fan you get used to things not going too plan, here hopes this lot buck that trend.
This. Ours will be better next season too. Those purchases in January were made with next season in mind imo.
That's no dampener - that is sense. My hope that so far we have signed to strengthen the squad in numbers and the quality will hapen in July.
I agree mate, Buzzing at the way the club is taking shape and I have no doubt that we'll make money off these signings(the confirmed signings and future), become a better force on the pitch and become a very desirable club. But thats two or years to see healthy results. I'll be a very happy man if finish mid table this season. The squads thin, we need lots of new players and they need to settle. I've got the time and patients to let them gel, but does Paolo?
Fletcher Sess Zarate..............AJ N'daiye Cabral Rose..............Cavada O'Shea, Diakite, Mig How's that for an attacking team?? lol
SUNDERLAND are poised to step up their interest in Palermo striker Abel Hernandez after refusing to meet Inter Milan's valuation of Ghanaian youngster Duncan. Black Cats director of football Roberto De Fanti has been sounding out a large number of attacking targets based in Italy in recent days, and is ready to make a formal move in the hope of securing his club's main attacking signing. Duncan, a 20-year-old Ghana international who spent last season on loan at Livorno, had featured prominently on his list of potential recruits, and he raised the possibility of signing the youngster with senior Inter officials. However, the Inter hierarchy regard Duncan as one of their most promising young players, and insisted they would not be willing to sell him for less than 6m Euros. De Fanti, who is in regular contact with Sunderland owner Ellis Short, is not prepared to match that valuation, and has subsequently turned his attention to Hernandez. Hernandez, a 22-year-old striker who boasts nine full caps for Uruguay, will leave Palermo this summer following the Sicilian club's relegation to Serie B. He started last season as one of the most highly-rated young strikers in Italy, but suffered a cruciate ligament injury in October that sidelined him for the best part of six months. He returned for the final seven games of the season, scoring in a 3-2 defeat to Udinese, but was unable to prevent his employers dropping out of Serie A. Palermo's relegation has forced them to reassess their finances, and a number of departures are anticipated in an attempt to balance the books. Sources in Italy claim Palermo rejected a 12m Euros offer for Hernandez from Galatasaray last August, but their new financial position means they could not afford to turn down anything like that figure this summer. Sunderland will hope to exploit their desire to raise funds in order to drive down the South American's fee, although they are far from the only club involved in discussions with Palermo officials. Parma have also registered an interest, but both De Fanti and new chief scout, Valentino Angeloni, boast deep-rooted links in Italy, and the pair will hope their long list of contacts helps pave the way for a deal. Hernandez is currently in Brazil, preparing to represent his country in the Confederations Cup, so it is unlikely he will make a decision over his future until his international commitments are at an end. However, Sunderland officials will be keen to press him for a decision at the start of next month if they are able to reach an agreement with Palermo. De Fanti and manager, Paolo Di Canio, could have to make a key decision of their own shortly if Liverpool table a formal offer for Simon Mignolet. Pepe Reina is expected to leave Anfield to join Barcelona later this summer, and Liverpool have identified Mignolet as their preferred replacement. Di Canio has no desire to sell the Belgium international, but he could find it difficult to keep him at the Stadium of Light if the prospect of a move to Liverpool becomes a genuine possibility. Meanwhile, James McClean has talked of his frustration after a magnificent save from Iker Casillas prevented him from celebrating a memorable equaliser against Spain. Republic of Ireland suffered a 2-0 defeat to the reigning world and European champions in New York in the early hours of Thursday morning, but McClean looked to have cancelled out Roberto Soldado's opener when he crashed in a rising drive with ten minutes left. Casillas somehow clawed the ball to safety, and Juan Mata added a second Spain goal with two minutes left. "It would have been nice to have on the CV - a goal against Spain at Yankee Stadium - but it wasn't to be," said McClean. "I did everything right. He (Casillas) dived before I hit it and there was an element of luck as well as world class. "But he's not one of the best in the world for nothing, so it just wasn't to be. He was like a cat, wasn't he? He dived and somehow - I don't know how - he saved it. But as I say, he's not one of the best in the world for nothing, is he?"
See, now you're talking sense mate. I've been saying this for some time now. Sess is a talent but he isn't doing it for us on any kind of consistent basis and as you say, if we were to do this bit of business we'd be far, far better off as a club than we are now.
Could he be our next signing? Mauro Zarate has taken to Twitter to announce that his contract with Lazio has finally been terminated. The forward has been in a contract dispute with the Biancocelesti for quite some time now, and although the arbitration panel handling his case against the team haven't come to a final decision yet, the Argentine is still saying his goodbyes. Zarate expressed his happiness on Tuesday night through his official Twitter account and thanked the Italian side's fans for supporting him. âFrom now on Iâm free, finally I can go and play elsewhere," he wrote. "Now I am happy again. "I thank the fans for three very beautiful years in Rome. I have always given my all to the Lazio shirt." Reports have linked the 26-year-old to Premier League side Sunderland, as well as former club Velez Sarsfield. Mauro Zarate first joined Lazio on loan from Al-Sadd for the 2008-09 season, after which he signed a permanent deal with the club. The player then spent the 2011-12 campaign on loan with Inter, where he failed to fully impress. He only made one league appearance for the Aquilotti this past term, due to injury and his problems with the club.
get the lad in. he is quality and there wont be a better free transfer out there this window. could be an excellent foil for fletch and could add some attacking flair to the squad
