Roll on the doomsayers, mirror reporting the Spanish FA has blocked the signing because of the representation troubles. Bet it's really because they don't rate BR either.....and probably blame him for the Spanish economic situation. He bugged up their economy a few years back in a motivational speech to Spanish bankers........

No one reporting that no one can sign anything officially until July 1st... They really do try to make a tsunami out of an overflowing sink don't they.

Will be sorted by July 1st. Guarantee it.

  2. What happened to teams having to adhere to the eight home grown players rule? Arsenal only had six and two or three times had seven last season (the first season it was in effect) but there is no sign of punishment for these sides.

If there is to be no retrospective punishment that it doesn't matter but if this rule is to be enforced then we need to consider who our eight are, especially with Carragher leaving and the likes of Downing and Shelvey possibly going. That would leave Johnson, Allen, Gerrard, Henderson and Sturridge as home growns.

You don't have to adhere to it.

If you want the option of 25 senior players then at least 8 have to be homegrown.

Sterling and I think Suso can technically count. Thats the way Arsenal get around it i believe.

  5. They are under 21 so don't need to be included. Nor as either been trained at a English or Welsh club for three years between 18 (or is it 16? If so, Suso might have) and 21 years of age.

We've all said we should be buying players who are better than players that we already have and that way the squad will build depth and strength. Aspas would in theory be competition for Downing and based on the last 2 years you'd have to say that unless he is a massive flop, then he would be an improvement on Downing given that he is better infront of goal but the number of goals he's scored but also the amount of assists provided.

Just for the record he got 23 goals before the season to last (in the second division).

Would have thought he would be the type of player we'd be after. Young, but experienced for a club competing at t he top of their league and a full international. Should be a god signing for Southampton. I can see them really pushing for top half of the table next year as the new manager has got them playing decent football and they seem to be splashing the cash a bit.

18 is a bit better if true but will wait and see.

Can't believe we missed out on Lovren like that. The positive I can see out of that is that he is a lefty like Agger so if they are similar, maybe it means Agger is for sure staying ( barca rumors).

    Guardian as well....

Guardian: Liverpool are increasingly optimistic about signing £20 million player
Liverpool are increasingly optimistic about signing Shakhtar Donetsk's £20m-rated midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan while uncertainty continues over the futures of Luis Suárez and Andy Carroll.

Brendan Rodgers has made the Armenian international a prime target as he seeks to inject "an extra 20 goals" into his team next season, having already agreed a £7.6m deal for the Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas.

Shakhtar's chief executive, Sergey Palkin, said last weekend that there had been no official contact with Liverpool about Mkhitaryan, 24, who scored a record 25 goals in the Ukrainian premier league last season, but an approach is believed to have been made and Anfield officials are hopeful about concluding the signing.

What do we know about this Armenian? From the champions league, I enjoyed Shaktar and watched every game in that campaign. However, bar Willian, Fernandinho and Texiera I don't remember anyone standing out.

    we know nothing, jon snow.....

I don't know much at all, just going off reports. I am in your boat where I don't remember him from that Shaktar team. Of all the players on that team I would take Dario Srna, he is awesome.
