Before he popped his shoulder, my mate used to bowl med-pace with a slinger type action, you couldn't pick up his release and he'd be a right pain to get away, its why he had the best averages in the club!
The bowling attack is pathetic but can have their moments - Jadeja and Ashwin seem to be a very good pair during the middle of innings. I would have said SA and England are favourites due to the conditions but the conditions have been unpredictable - sometimes they're good for bowlers, then it's a batsman's paradise. Also, SA have a couple of big injuries to Steyn and Morkel.
Jadeja and Ashwin those 2 had good ipl 20/20 just gone, jadeja looked quite good with the bat which there has been a question mark over, so could be a force. who are the other bowlers, just wondering how many who was in the ipl have been given a chance, ie mainly youngsters, as they have some good ones coming through by the looks of things. anyone think an all rounder is the way forward or stick to either bowling or batting and specialize in one area.
Jadeja has been around for quite a while but was extremely useless when he first burst onto the scene. But over the past couple of years, he's really developed his game. He is seen as a utility player who could predominantly bat and with bowl a little - so I wouldn't class him as an all rounder. But he has surprised everyone with his bowling is economical but has a knack of picking up wickets. Can play the aggressor as a batsman or simply rotate the strike. Not to mention his brilliant fielding. Ashwin is our specialist bowler since Harbhajan has completely flopped since his guide Kumble retired. Bhav Kumar is a medium/fast bowler with good control and is doing decent. Yadav is the new young fast bowler who can reach good speeds but is quite leaky. Ishant Sharma is a terrible and should be banned.
Ishant Sharma is a terrible and should be banned. he the one with the funny eye? if so agree, never got the hype around him. so are you a Dhoni,Tendulkar or a Dravid fan then jimmy?
* India should build their bowling line up around these two, quality bowlers, one swings it miles and the other has some pace, which is rare for Indian bowlers, they compliment each other well, along with Ashwin, they have 3 solid bowlers for all forms of the game. ** Correct, he's horrendous!
Ishant is the lanky streak of nothingness with long hair. He was hyped up when he first burst onto the scene - few great innings in Aus and SA where he bowled with real venom and pace. But as normal, fast Indian bowlers, they start off fast but they lose it really quickly and then they fade away. Yadav has the potential but concedes a lot of runs which is becoming a concern. But I agree, the selectors should persist with these two. In terms of my favourite, I do like Jadeja because he was pretty much ridiculed when he first played but he bounced back and has become a very good one day player (similar to Lucas!). Kohli is another favourite - young, spirited but combined with genuine quality. He'll be the captain after Dhoni.
Exactly was required.. Bat first, so far going great, I'd want min. 280 touching 300 after being 171-2 with 14 overs to go... Second, if the weather is dodgy, that will put pressure on Sri Lanka to keep up with D/L, and Thrid, in this weather, under lights, good luck hitting Anderson! Bag the win and we can take it easy against NZ!
Well it's easier said than done Jonny. SL made it look like a 220 and top performance from Sangakkara. I always tend have a problem of whom to support when these two face. Nevertheless a good game of cricket. and England now face a must win situation.
Good batting track and we were under par with the score of 293? Or Poor bowling performance? Or Quality batting by the Sri Lankan's? All of the above me thinks.. Oh well, turn up on Sunday or go home, should make for a good game against the Kiwi's
Great game last night I don't agree with England's style - stay in, play safe, keep wickets until the end. It's just as risky as smashing from the off IMO. Cook, Trott and Bell are not ODI players IMO, they play ODI cricket as if it's the 70's i.e. happily plodding along, eating up balls and hoping the middle-late order will smash the runs.
Broad irritates me beyond belief Just bowls half trackers asking to be put in the stands Wish someone would explain what a Yorker is to him
I didn't watch so it's hard to say for certain but it seemed to me that the batsmen did their job and the bowlers failed in theirs. It was only just enough (although obviously proven to be not so) by Bopara's cracking knock at the end but the total was definitely defendable if the bowlers and captain got that bit right, which they clearly didn't. Listening to some commentary it sounded like Cook was culpable in that he didn't really use his attack right or with much imagination, although Sangakaara is good enough to take the game from anyone so it could just be one of those things. We need to beat the Kiwis to move on and we should be capable of that so it's in our hands.
feck me, that's poor by amateur standards that alone supposed professionals. i thought being bowled out for 50 odd was bad, but 20!
Yes,I know there's a thread for this but...............
I've been out of touch because of my arm. That's a ****ing incredible effort. 20 is like a primary school score Bring on the yarpies
