Malky Mackay had a season to build, Laudrup had the foundations set by Brendan Rodgers, Mourinho had **** loads of money and the 2nd best player in the world. Its completely different cirumstances And Di Canio hasnt achieved success other then with Swindon when they was in League 2
Talk that Hull are going to let Jack Hobbs go, would Nigel consider a move for him? And chance Sven put any decent clauses in there like sell on clauses? It would allow us to get him back at a discounted rate if he did
I wasn't overly disappointed when he left but whenever i've seen him for Hull he's been very solid. Think he's got age on his side but he's been a bit injury prone at Hull. I think if the price is right i'd take him back.
I said at the time selling Hobbs was a mistake. He had a very good season the year we made the play offs and he was indifferent when Sven came in but he was still better then some of the crap we replaced him with like Ben Mee and Jeff Bruma. He is a better defender then St. Ledger and Whitbread
England Under 21's are out of the Euro's already after losing 2 out of 2. A player we have been linked with quite often in the Craig Dawson a centre half scored England's goal today and had another perfectly good goal disallowed in the first game. I was looking at his career stats and for a centre half its pretty remarkable Club appearances 207, 38 goals England Under 21 appearances 14, 6 goals For a centre half thats amazing. I hope Nigel looks into getting him here next season.
There will always be 'reasons' but managing successfully is just that - taking what is there and building on it ... Ancelloti, Di Matteo ... and Di Canio has done nothing more or less than Nigel Pearson!
@John__Percy: Peterborough have turned down a £2.5m bid for striker Dwight Gayle. Believe the bid has come from Fulham #ffc #posh The Peterborough owner has confirmed the bid but said it wasn't 2.5M
£2.5 million is a damn good price for a player who's had half a season in the Championship, surprised they've turned it down.
Alex Baptiste has turned us down for Bolton despite us offering a better deal according to the mercury
If that's accurate then it's a shame ... I think he's a really good player. The geographics might come into it too - no family disruption in signing for Bolton plus he may feel that they are currently more likely to challenge for promotion next season if he's basing it on how both clubs finished the season. Plenty more fish in the sea.
If Jack Hobbs is available like rumours are to be believed then Nigel might go in for him. They just offered him to us as part of their Kasper bid They might be willing to sell him. Offer then 1.5M for him and it should do it aslong as they dont try and bring Kasper back into the deal
I was never entirely convinced by Jack and if Steve Bruce is willing to sell him then I think it sums up his potential (Liam Moore has more IMHO) ... he's still young mind.
Jack Hobbs was superb when he played alongside a experienced player. The play off year Hobbs was immense alongside Wayne Brown. He suffered when he played alongside some erratic as Sol Bamba or someone still learning like Michael Morrison.

Birmingham might prefer more cash instead of Hobbs, therefore by selling Hobbs you might be more prepared to offer more money Signing Davies would be a mistake IMO. Very good defender when he can be arsed but his attitude isnt good enough
...... but true. Often caught out of position. Has improved greatly at Hull. Not sure if I would want him back though - would prefer Keane for another year.
