Daily Fail have said we are offering Jack Hobbs as a part payment for Curtis Davies.

Bit harsh on Hobbs I would think.

I really like Hobbs and think he'll do okay in the Prem. Davies has always had the potential to be top class, but never really done it. I remember Arsenal offer £10m before he went to Villa.

It might seem a bit far stretched but it could be Faye. Take it his year extension was a clause rather than an 'offer' from us. Including him in a deal for Curtis would make great business and good for both parties.

Perhaps people are picking Hobbs name because the media know we want to keep Chezzy, McShane is getting a new contract offer, Bruce's surname is Bruce and they think Faye has be 'offered' a year extension hence the media assuming its Hobbs.

Bit of a trench but maybe not.

Hobbs is a good front on and in the air but gets turned easily.

Have you considered that perhaps Brum asked for Hobbs and don't want McShane?

That might be the case, but I'm sure we could do a deal without Hobbs. Would Hobbs are want to go to Brum? By all accounts there in a bad place financially and Davies isn't going to sign a new contract.

I think SB is probably looking for about 7 players (rather than 5 that keeps getting quoted) to do this he will need to offload a couple in the process. I like Hobbs but you can't argue the trade as Davies is the better player of the 2 IMO so it is definitely upgrading our defence if it's true - Brum would not want McShane I agree.

I don't see why people are so sure Davies is better than Hobbs?

Davies is a 'big name' but what he done at Birmingham? 1 player doesn't make a team I know but how come they're so **** if Davies is so brilliant? We put 8 goals past them last season with little difficulty. A few years ago we had a **** defence, signed Anthony Gerrard and suddenly had a good defence so it isn't impossible for one defender to make your defence good. I really don't think Davies is that special. If Bruce wants him fair enough, but surely Hobbs having been part of one of the league's best defences for the last 3 years in a row and eventually getting promoted, has proven himself as much as Davies who's had a very up-and-down career and is currently achieving nothing special in the league Hobbs just got promoted from.

Why are you trying so hard to get rid of Jack Hobbs?

You just tried to swap him and 2M for Kasper Schmeichel and now you trying to swap him for Curtis Davies

I would prefer Hobbs over Davies. The only advantage Davies has is he is a bigger attacking threat.

I think it's all media speculation. I don't for one minute think we're trying to offload Hobbs, I think he'll be one of the first names on the team sheet. Apparently the player included in the Kasper deal was Corry Evans.

Hobbs has terrible distribution skills. He does not help play from the back.

Defending is one part of being a complete player in a wing back formation.

I think SB might want a more rounded footballer.

That's true, but if that's the reason we're trying to get rid(if we are actually trying to get rid), then Bruce should go first.

Well yeah, but other clubs will want Hobbs. Surely that's the issue? You can only move people on if someone wants them.

Hobbs is solid. But I think it is just a fact that to bring one in one must go.

AB isn't as good a defender but he is versatile. And probably cheaper to retain. And, as mentioned, other clubs get a say in who they want. Hobbs was pulled a few times late last year and I just think SB wants to play out the back faster and sentiment is not part of his thinking.

I like Hobbs but can see why it might happen.

Absolutely. And Hobbs' passing isn't thart bad anyway, he lacks the skill to do what Chester does with the ball but, importantly, he knows that so he just plays simple balls and that's one big difference between him and Bruce.

    They're guessing.

Though I could see Hobbs being traded, going from a bid of £1.75 for Schmeichel, to £2m + Hobbs seems highly unlikely.

So unlikely, that I'm calling bollocks, it would be equivalent to almost doubling our offer(Stewart or Evans are far more likely candidates).

I'd argue chesters distribution is no better, although Chester is a better defender
