The same probably goes for Cardiff. You're both teams, not a collection of individuals which is why you got promoted. It's difficult to pick out a player from your side who i'd take at Leicester, just that as a collective they work well and complement each other. I'll await for some delusional fool to think i'm having a dig. It's da troof.
Aluko/Brady/Chester were probably our outstanding players. Closely followed by Quinniesta. I would honestly, hand-on-heart say that Aluko, Brady, Chester, Quinn, Meyler and Boyd are all ready for the Premier League but we definitely may need improvements in the other areas (i.e. goalscorer(s), goalkeeper(s), Ashbee-esque midfielder etc).
The one player I would take right now from your side is Quinn. Was probably one of the signings of the season last summer.
We need to spend money on a couple of goal scorers and a couple of strikers. It's early days but well before the season starts we need these in the team. If we mess around with too much penny pinching it will discourage players from coming if they think we wont have a good enough squad. I would have thought paying the going rate for a striker and goalkeeper early would make it easier for us. No team will get promoted from the Championship with a good enough squad to stay in the Premier League. I don't understand the "holidays" excuse. Last season we would have been looking at who we might need if we went up and a couple of phone calls every day while on holiday are still possible.
I reckon SB has already got his shopping list, it is the southern press and the HDF that are merely speculating (cos they dont have anything better to do and they need to sell papers)
I wonder if she knows the off side rule, because she's pretty well off side with this article. We came second in the league, so to right off our whole squad is rather harsh. We know that we have a good squad of youngsters who deserve to be given a chance to prove themselves on the higher stage, but we also know that it could be a case of lambs to the slaughter without probably 6 additions. So lets wait and see what our squad, and starting line-up is before we write ourselves and next season off.
I'm sure people just name Chester when naming our good players without thinking. He wasn't in our top 5 players last season by a long way.
At present we don't have premier league quality players. We might have by the end of the season. Brady, Aluko, Chester look most likely to show they are good enough. Elmo, Meyler, Koren, Rosenior, McShane, Cairney, Hobbs, Quinn need to prove they still have it to counter the evidence of previous premier league seasons The rest? Boyd, Dudgeon, Evans, Bruce, Fryatt, Proschwitz...Who knows. They might make the step up they might not. The article is fair at the present time.
Until we know the make up of all the squads come the start of the season it will be hard to judge which are the 3 favourites to go down - what Bruce has got an advantage of over McKay and Holloway is that he has managed in the PL for a number of seasons (not just taken a team down like media favourite Holloway) - and didn't we get the same comments last time we got promoted. The more the media write us off, the more Bruce and the coaching staff can use it to motivate our players - and we all know what Jeff and the idiots will be saying come the first weekend of next season on that show
You can say that all our players aren't good enough, but Norwich, Palace, Stoke, Sunderland, Cardiff, Villa, Fulham, none of those teams finished on more than 44 points, its wide open for anyone to go down next season. Because West Brom may have finished 8th, but they only got 49 points, a 12 point gap between 8th and 7th.
Whoa wombat why the complete negativity? 2 questions 1. Do you support Hull City? 2. Do you want the number for the Samaritans?
