At Madrid mourinhos ego was shattered. Imagine going for the United job with a shattered ego. It would crush him.

Sensibly he went to the one club he is bigger than. Where no matter what he will be bigger than the club so he can rebuild his ego.

Tbf he cant fail at Chelsea, if they finish 4th and go out after the group stages in the CL they will love him all the same, the chavs will lose whatever shred of credibility they have but that will be the case nonetheless.

For me he has to do better than Rafa had done coming in when he came in with the season well under way, if not it can only be judged as a bad job in his first season if Rafa had done so badly<ok>

An interesting season this one will be, new managers at the top three clubs.

Not too impressed with Moyes's appointment but Mourinho at Utd would have been a rerun of his tenure at Madrid. Mourinho is suited to clubs like Chelsea and City, a mercenary manager for a team full (almost) of mercenaries.

Cant be happy or unhappy with Moyes I would imagine, apprehension is maybe what some of you mancs are experiencing. Fergie always made a better team than the sum of its parts, Moyes also does that.
What I would be more concerned about is United wanting a manager that gets the best out of less than world class players as a team which would not bode well for top quality transfers in. :)

Tbh that's always been SAF's greatest quality too. He's had some great players, but as often as not it's been his superior management of the less gifted ones which has made the difference. If Moyes can keep doing the same, then I look forward to another two decades of dominance <ok>

Also, Moyes has never had access to world class players, so who's to say he won't be able to manage them just as well as the rest?

No one, its unknown territory hence the anxiety of some United fans. Expectation of success is also unknown territory for him too. Will be interesting to see if he can work the magic, otherwise You may have to call one of those numbers you see pinned up in phone boxes for your domination fix <laugh>

Being honest with or without Ronaldo United should waltz the league next season.

For either City or Chelsea to have a chance we would have to play like QPR and they would need to spend over £100million each.

All Moyes needs to do is be himself, play to his strengths and the results as usual will come.

is biggest challenge will com when this side breaks up in 4 or 5 years and hes building his own.

I dont really see any one other than perhaps Arsenal ( if they get the players they want ) making a genuine challenge this season.

So many of the things you throw out there come back to bite you in the ass<laugh>

You are just not comprehending the impact Fergie has on your team UIR. You are about to be reminded this season why he has won so much without spending fortunes every year I suspect.

I think you have it the wrong way round.

Everyone is underestimating the most important part of winning the title.

    they players.

the players who waled the league in 2nd gear last season and many of which have won all but 2 of the last 6 titles ( losing out barely ) are all their.

if there is one set of players in world football who know how to win its the ones at Manchester United.

If Moyes picks up on this quickly he could well become Sir Moyes of ferguson.

One thing that has remained constant over the past 2 decades is everyone underestimating Uniteds players. Its either all down to one player, 3 players, the defence, luck, cheating, the FA, bribes, lunar eclipse, solar flairs, Fergie, Queroz, Kidd, Ronaldo, Rooney, RvP.......

    Always down to someone else...........

I imagine we'll be efficient, but unspectacular in our first season under Moyes. It may be enough to win the league, guess we'll have to wait and see. <ok>

From Sky Sports (via CR's Twitter thread ) - "All the news about my renewal with Real Madrid are false"

That's because he has not renewed his contract yet I suppose<laugh> Are you thinking it is because he is coming to Manchester to play for Moyes?

only an idiot with think it don't at least raise the chances of him joining us, sure he is most probably will stay , but there was a good chance now he may sign for us before, and after this news, if it was 10-20% it is now 30% .. now you can stay in your coco land world and stay in denial but you always get a smack in the face from UTD sooner or later

I too, think United will win the league again next season. I don't see things being hugely different, and the core of players at United hasn't changed. If you got Ronaldo, that would be an insane front line, i.e. Ronaldo, RVP, Rooney. <ok>
