If we're basing it on his last season in the championship, then the answer is no! £8 million wouldn't buy us a replacement who will get 19-20 goals and 19-20 assists. But it might get 2-3 players that could turn us into a great team that doesn't need to rely on one player every week...

Your last sentence is what I've been saying for 2 years, but apparently we cannot do without Adel or the whole club will fall apart & he'll be off playing for Barca. Dont agree with the first bit as you are telling me that no other premiership team has a player in thier reserves AND of the 700 or so released players out of contract this close season..NOT ONE of them up to the value of 8 million punds could score 20 goals in the NPC. Sorry mate stats, probability & common sense are all heavily stacked against you. I dont know who is in the reserves at Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal etc..but I'l bet that most are at least as good as AT.? REALLY... He got both that amount, not one or the other. It will be a long time if ever another player does that! And I didn't say there weren't any premiership players who wouldn't wow the championship, just that none who would come to us! The reason Taarabt has not gone to a bigger club has absolutely nothing to do with skill and ability. It has everything to do with his attitude and application, fact!! Ability alone doesn't get you to the top! You talk a lot queens without actually saying anything. You go on about how easy it would be to replace him, yet have not put up any viable options that I have seen? Name the premiership players we have a realistic chance of bringing in?
Again Mack, i dont know who is in the prem reserve teams of this or last year. Thats not my job. thats the job of Harry and the scouts. How many people that support QPR can HONESTLY say they had ever heard of Adel before he came to us? 1-2 % maybe? We did it then, so give me one reason why we cant do it again bearing in mind we have a better board, better manager (agueably), more money, better players, 7 million pounds extra to spend, the whole structure of the club has improved, better chance of promotion etc....than when colin was here. The only reason we got him in the 1st place is because of his poor attitude and the fact Warnock let him get away with everything, pandering to him. It's undoubtedly the reason he hasn't done well under Hughes or redknapp. That's why we won't get another player like him, because they'd have to be crazy too. I know you're a smart guy to queens, so you know I'm right.....
Was he only last month docked more money than earned in fines i.e. lateness/attitude! I agree with this but sadly he has to go and although it will be our loss IMO this is the only way we will see Adel's true potential and although I would love to see it happen at QPR we must be realistic and let him move to a bigger stage with better players around him. I for one will regret it but will take great pride in reminding people that we helped him achieve great things by giving him the chance, we will always have those memories.
I prefer that we are realistic and keep the one player we have who could bring us straight back up again, and entertain at the same time! Remy is up there too, but perhaps not available...

Personally I would love to keep Taarabt. And I dont actually think we would be a one man team if we kept him. When he virtually took us up on his own (sort of!) in 2011 our owners didnt want to invest money to help us buy other players to get us up. We relied on a few free's and older players. Now it is different. Taarabt will have help as Fernandes is willing to invest, and already has. This time we can afford to drop Taarabt if we so wished. But for me, we need to keep him. If we sell him for 8m say - 40% of that goes to Spurs doesnt it? Leaving us with just 4.8m. Not worth selling tbh.
Judo, Partly agree with you, the figure of 8 million comes from a previous post where certain posters claimed that he was worth 16mill of anyones money!! now when you've finished laughing at that the you take off the 40% and the mill we paid for him ; and we should have around 8 million profit. That's where we got the figure from mate. I know its crap because eno-one with a hole in theire arse is gonna pay 18 million for him, BUT, that's what we were debating? whether we could replace him with 8 million in our pockets Personally i'd hazard a guess that we could; others are admant we couldn't.....opinions mate...that's all !
Queens why not read Wannock's new book you may understand a little bit better exactly what Adel feels for this club. It's a good read.It explains how the team was built around him and Faurlin. It's what i believe to be a truthful account ... it also screams why change it NW! Adel will be Adel wherever he ends up ... a match winner with the potential to be the new Zidane This player was the best the championship has ever seen why would you not want him in our team?
What you will never get is that Taarabt is probably the most talented player to ever where the shirt and we are highly unlikely to EVER find another one as good.
This is possibly the most truthful statement this board has seen. Our season didn't go well but we have a fine number 10 and for me Adel scored technically the best goal in premiership last season ... if he goes then i would pay just to watch this player play ... any club.If he goes I will never forgive Harold never or the club come to think of it. The team must be built around him if he stays... if the club sell him for anything less than 18 million they are daft beyond belief.
