Hi Cookie I wasn't thinking of Frei or Kaca as CM but one of the many wingers we have been linked with. MJ will sort it out given time I'm sure and if he rates F & K, which I sure he does, he will hang on to them too.

My memory is that when we signed him he was described as a striker/winger. The first time I saw him was against Wolves that season and he started on the wing before moving inside when Zamora went off injured. So he played both positions until Jol tried him in the centre of midfield.
According to Portuguese papers we are interested in Sporting Braga left back Elderson Echiejile. please log in to view this image Norwich were keen on the 25yr old Nigerian international but seem to dropped out after signing Javier Garrido. Heâs valued at around £2.5m and although heâs got 2 years left on his contract with Braga is said to be âunsettledâ at the club. Stuggart (who seem to in the market for everybody weâre interested in at the moment) have reportedly made a bid, so I suspect it wonât come to anything. However it does suggest that Jol is keen to find the final peg in our defence. Source: http://www.abola.pt/nnh/ver.aspx?id=408293
According to the Sunday Times - "Fulham have made an informal GBP 8m offer for James McCarthy, who has three years remaining on his contract, but were rebuffed. Tottenham are making signing English or British players a priority. They seek a central midfielder and a centre-back, and with Tom Huddlestone and Scott Parker likely to leave, have a vacancy for a player with tactical awareness and good passing skills." The article goes on to say that Spurs are looking to pay £15m for him. But Wigan have put on a £20m price tag. Whatever, if it's true that we were prepared to offer £8m, then it's encouraging that we are prepared to pay to bolster the midfield.
Good point, Cottager. It sounds as if McCarthy is already out of our league for price, but for £8m we're likely to get someone else who's decent.
Sidwell says there are more on the way. please log in to view this image “It was a bit of a transitional year for us, one where there were a few new faces,” he told the official website. “Obviously there will be more players arriving over the summer, but the main body of the squad will have had that experience of playing together. “It’s important to get those new players in early and get the squad nice and settled ahead of the new campaign. I’m looking forward to seeing who else comes in, as last summer we saw the arrival of some very good players.” Here is the link to his story on the Club website, which interestly if not unexpectedly, does not mention his indiscretions last season - http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2013/june/17/sidwell-seeks-settled-squad
I'm not sure that Sidwell's comments are anything more than generic footballer platitudes. There are always new signings at any new club, and the number of departures suggest a few more to come in. I doubt that Sidwell is particularly involved in the discussions of Martin Jol and the other decision makers concerning who we are going to sign. Put simply, I doubt he's speaking with much more inside knowledge than we've got. The players are probably waiting to see who we sign just as much as the fans are. Here's a thought we haven't really explored though: Sidwell and Boateng could well be the starting centre midfield pair next season. Who says there's going to be a big money playmaker signed. If he can avoid getting sent off every other match, Sidwell could prove to be an important part of the team.
Indeed but his piece will have been sanctioned by (possibly even written by) the PR lot. They wouldnât put out mis-information about new signings to lure the missing season ticket holders, would they? Surely not. No, no, no. We must have a dream - Downing, Bent, Huddlestone, Carlton Cole all in the medical centre as we speak.
If Carlton Cole is going anywhere its odds on he will end up at Newcastle now they have that tactical genius with a wealth of european football knowledge that is Joe Kinnear as their Director of Football. Wouldn't surprise me to see Vinnie Jones making a comeback in the not too distant future. They certainly have a lot of brown stuff heading their way and it isn't Newcastle Ale. On this subject, one Newcastle fan made this, which is very funny. http://youtu.be/7KNpcsZSCj0
The original featuring Joe Kinnear himself on TalkSport is almost as funny. His filiblustering and assertions (like he brought Krul to the club when in fact the keeper was there 3 years before Joe) are hilarious. The best bit however is his message right at the end to the Newcastle fans. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuAVjLpU9cU&feature=player_embedded
Just a quick note on Honda who has been mentioned by some as the missing link in our midfield including myself... Although he is out of contract at Cska Moscow it runs out at the end of the Russian season which is at the end of December so nobody can pick him up until January, like everyone I expect bigger clubs to be in for him but he would be an amazing signing!
