A week today...the premiership fixtures is going to announced. After playing our first game of the season away for many years, we played the first game at home last season.I still have the feeeling that the first fixture is going to be away.United,City, Arsenal,Chelsea are most likely to get home start.
Perplexed as to why everyone says the same mantra "I hope we get the tough games early". A couple of bad results and it can lead to a "negative spiral" and have a negative effect on the rest of your season. I'd rather have a run in like we (Chelsea) did in 09/10. Start with weaker opposition, have a home game against a reasonably tough team in September (Spurs at home) then that's confidence going into the bigger games. Players are not going to be fully fit in August or even September, I'd rather have a couple of home games against lower opposition who are just getting to grips with the PL. Blackpool and Burnley at home in August/September were just about the easiest fixtures you could play in 09/10 and 10/11 respectively.
Me saying "Chelsea at Anfield" wasn't a hope, it what I suspect. I hope we get someone like Norwich at Anfield first - avoid the top sides - avoid the bogey sides - avoid newly promoted sides (always try that much harder in first half a dozen matches) - be at Anfield
agree district, get the easier games first and build a wining mentality which puts you hopefully in good stead for when you play the harder opposition. whats the chances of that happening for us lol, last seasons start was a joke why should we expect any dif now. random my arse!
Not going to happen. They won't ALL be at home. United and City can't be as the GMP won't allow it. Chelsea and Arsenal also tend not to be at home on the same weekend as they tend to prefer 2 home v 2 away re: Top 4 teams If I were a betting man I'd hedge my bets on: United being at home (defending Champions have been in every season since Chelsea in 05/06) City being away (see above) Arsenal being at home (2 v 2) Chelsea being away (What I've been told) Spurs being away (Arsenal at home) Liverpool being away (Not usually at home on the same weekend as United) Everton being at home (Can't be at home same weekend as Liverpool)
It's not random. They explained years ago it can't be because of various permutations. I.e Southend request their games aren't played at the same time as West Ham due to a large % of fans that follow both. I.e Merseyside Police will not permit Liverpool and Everton to be played on the same weekend I.e TFL/Met Police request Chelsea and Fulham/West Ham do not play on the same weekend I.e GMP will not permit City and United to play on the same weekend The list is endless, but it isn't random trust me, and Sky also manipulate the fixtures. Liverpool have had slow starts in previous seasons so IMO you'd do well to have a relatively easy first 3 games, then a home game against Chelsea/Spurs/Arsenal.
The only thing that bugs me with the fixture list is why its not sorted for the first nineteen games and then just transposed for the second half of the season.
This can happen, last season there were a few times where both were at home for Saturday 3pm kick offs but no it doesn't always happen
and for me why do teams complete the double fixture over other teams before playing the 19th team they have not played yet?
I can understand two teams playing each other close together towards the end of the season because of having to reschedule for whatever reason but before the nineteenth?
I think Stoke would be a good fixture. New manager with high expectations only to come crashing down to earth. Its actually partly why I want Chelsea in the first game, a chance to ruin the returning party
