Don't all bookies do their odds where if they know most people will bet on an outcome, they make sure the odds are always low. And what no one has dared mention yet is that when was the last time a player went straight from a Rangers or a Celtic into a regular starting spot in a top 4 EPL side, no - no club wants to take that risk, whereas if the player is seen to be doing well at Hull there is more chance of Moyes, Rodgers, Wenger, Jose etc being interested in signing him.
What about the Scottish arrogance? Why should Hooper come to Hull etc? Tiny Hull, we won't get a Champions League place etc I am sure if we played in Scotland we'd be able to get a CL place.
I think a lot of this anger from our side has been caused by that old Septic player (name escapes me) slating the city saying it's only good for fishing and belitting us as a nothing club. But surely we are only confirming everything he said by reacting like this? Are we not above the ignorant comments of someone who has probably never been here? Reacting in the same way with pathetic, childish comments only lowers us to exactly the same ill-informed level he is at.
Your sure Hull would get a champions league place with the finances available in Scotland? Some would call that arrogance Celtics main stream of revenue is its World Wide fan base, it gets 2 million from winning the league, how do you expect Hull to compete with Celtic in the Scottish league with about 1/50th of the revenue you currently get in the EPL or do you think Hull will raise the profile of the SPL? still wouldn't be enough, you would have to sell every player you currently have
Oh isn't this getting like the "If Celtic played in England they'd be PL", not when you start below the BSQ Northern league (think that is arrogance from our scottish friends)
Oooh, I've just been called a spastic by Pud on the Celtic board thread discussing "Lower EPL", the witty response has certainly made my day. Think he's defo bit worried about his "star" signing for the "bright lights of Hull" (I thought it was a very witty response to their slagging off Hull, the EPL, English football (after all scotland are doing so much better than us in getting to next year's world cup)
100% agree! I'm a reader normally rather than a writer on this forum. I like to see views of others about our awesome team, but reading this is embarrassing. We made a bid for a player. Some may say it was under market value. We got turned down for whatever reason. However, to be so arrogant as to expect that a player would want to come to Hull rather than stay at a team who are clearly winning everything in Scotland at the moment and as such are in Europe and as such are a shop window for something much bigger than we are (at the moment) is a little difficult to swallow. We made a bid. It got turned down. Get over it and get on with the searching for someone who does want to come to us. Transfer window has not opened yet and I for one trust SB to get us a team which'll stay up. Next time we're looking for a calibre player like Hooper, we're probably in with a better chance of tempting him away from the Scottish Champs.
Even if we do get relegated we will be in a far more exciting league than Celtic. I think it's a joke that they are guaranteed Champions league football. Take Celtic out of the Spl and your left with a very poor league 1 style division.
If we hadnt got promoted and we read these exact comments from an EPL fan we would be incandescent with rage. How dare they, the arrogant know nothings about anything other than their own corruption ridden, money and foreigner swimming league? Yet judging by this thread we are already exactly the same as them. I dont want to put words in his mouth but I get the feeling this is rpecisely the kind of thing Mussie was talking about.
A bit ago someone blamed that Celtic legend who slagged off Hull for starting this, and I'm inclined to agree that if we hadn't been slagged off by someone who knows nothing about Hull, then we wouldn't be seeing a lot of these comments
A Championship standard squad would do fine in the SPL - Just look at yours. Most of your best players are from the Championship.
I am sure you are right but then the Celtic Supporters take up the banner and say much the same and we are just expected to take it. They are as bad as Leeds living on their CL appearences. The fact is if they where in the PL they would be where they say we are going to be, fighting relegation.
Oh do **** off. The champion's league and indeed the europa league are pan-european competitions. Not just for the top 4 teams from Germany, England, Italy and Spain. The scottish champions and indeed the lithuanian or liechtenstein champions are just as deserving at getting the opportunity to play in these competitions as any team that qualifies from their own domestic competitions. And besides we have to play 3 qualifying rounds to even reach the CL proper, whilst a team that finishes 25 points behind the champions of your league plays 1. How equitable.
Lighten up?!? I'm trying to do precisely that by moving on from all the pathetic 'my dad's bigger than your dad' ****!
The best thing Platini did was widen CL qualification across all UEFA nations rather than just the big leagues as it was previously.
