I thought the first one was a better film, mainly because its more focused on the Cuban revolution. The second part is still worth a watch though, a lot of good scenes in the second film.
One for Dan,Kings Adapted from Jimmy Murphy's critically-acclaimed play The Kings Of The Kilburn High Road.
I always get names and titles (especially spelling) mixed up! Outrage is sick but very good! What i like about Sonatine is the cinematography. the scene on the beach with the sumo wrestling is absolutely brilliant. Hanna Bi is good as well - not that i'm one dimensional on film directors or anything .
The Intouchables Black book - just for Carice Van Houten dressed up in sexy 40s gear Brotherhood of war - Korean film about 2 brothers forced to fight in the Korean war Oldboy Lady Vengeance The skin i live in Dogtooth A Serbian film!
Aye. Outrage beats Sonatine on the plot, but as you say the cinematography in Sonatine is good. Was made really well for a small budget I suppose.
One that hasn't been mentioned, and I am watching it now is, 'Joyeux Noel' - about the Christmas truce in WW1
Apart from Aldo no one seems to have mentioned any of Kurosawa's movies. If you are a fan of foreign movies these are musts: Rashomon Hidden Fortress Yojimbo and as Aldo said "Seven Samurai". If you have never seen this then you should.
I find myself drawn to Kristen Scott Thomas, fantastic actress, rarely makes a dud and something very attractive about her or maybe it's just me
A lot of the ones I would have chosen have already gone so I will add: The Idiots I saw the devil Zatoichi Gommorah Battle royale Irreversible What have I done to deserve this? The tin drum Brotherhood of the wolf Bad guy One deadly summer Betty Blue
