Our record of having the highest ever attendance at a play-off final(86,703) was not bettered yesterday, as Swansea v Reading fell just short(86,581). We're massive we are.
intact* ; Do you know how many were City and how many were Brizzle? Assuming it's about half and half but thought I'd ask.
I'm not sure there's any precise info on the split, due to the Club Wembley section, there's mixed fans and neutral fans, so there's probably only details of what each club sold.
As I recall we were given 36500 and Bristol City a thousand or so more (after both originally allocated 35000 each) for some obscure reason - the rest were Wembley Corporates. Swansea and Reading both had 40,000 (apparently) - find that hard to believe in a crowd including the Corporates of 86,581 especially given the fact that Swansea are poorly supported at home (av 15507) and Reading average 17682.
It was the same with us though, people who are barely interested in football went to Wembley just because of the occasion, and the rare opportunity. I'd hardly call it 40000+ football fans that we took with us, a fair few wouldn't go to a game at the KC more than twice a year.
Play-off games aren't included in a Club Wembley membership, so though the middle tier is still called the corporate area, most of the seats are bought by regular fans, so is not really corporate at all. Club Wembley members are still able to buy seats if they want them, but you can't usually buy your normal seat for a play-off final, it's not like a normal Wembley game.
OLM - yes but aren't the seats in and around the lower tier near the players tunnel still some sort of Wembley Corporate? -quite a lot of empty red seats in this area at City's game but surprisngly less so yesterday. Expected the attendance yesterday therefore to have beaten ours.
That's the Bobby Moore members section, I'm not sure what happens with them for the play-offs, but that section has it's own restaurant and every seat in there comes with a meal and drinks and costs a fortune.
Wasn't it something to do with Bristol's play-off match being before ours (and for some reason I remember it being a few days). Therefore they were given a bigger allocation. please log in to view this image
Good stuff. And the goal, which won the game is still the best to have been scored at that venue. Well in my opinion anyway.
