I'd disagree. I'd say Aluko, Quinn, Brady, Chester, Meyler, Boyd, Elmo (if we get him back) and Hobbs are all ready for the step up. Faye will be for the more physical games (i.e. West Ham and Stoke).
Whilst I recognise that your post is, in the main, countering one of ours that I don't think was entirely serious, it does raise an interesting point. Personally I think too many changes too quickly is akin to footballing suicide. I'm not able to comment on Hull because I haven't seen enough of them but for us I thik we need to bring in possibly four players with the first team in mind (a couple of additional squad players to provide competition perhaps as well). We need another quality centre back - Richard Dunne fits the bill provided there is enough pace in the other defenders to cover for his lack. Alex Baptiste is another. We need a quality left-back - Konchesky is a liability for me. We need a combatative defensive midfielder with good technique - a Neil Lennon clone - King and James are more creative but need the freedom to play We need a goal poacher - a Tony Cottee type - Jeff Schlupp may be the answer here but I feel we need a strike partnership rather than just expecting Wood to do it on his own. The above also assumes that Ben Marshall recovers his form.
There does seem to be a lot of wishful thinking on here, to be honest I could take him or leave him. I saw him at Leicester while I was living there and while he'd probably be a steady PL goalkeeper, he wouldn't be spectacular in my opinion. As has been said numerous times, there are better and cheaper options out there. The point of bidding all these low amounts is to unsettle the player, they aren't really seriously going to be accepted and we know it. I haven't read a single article from Kasper saying he really, 100% wants to sign a new contract and that he isn't interested in moving (he might be on holiday, but you can still speak to his agent surely). The thing is, we aren't as financially impaired as you think (in fact our owners are richer than yours, considerably richer actually, look it up) and if we offered £4m straight away, how would we know if you'd accept less? It's still June, there's no rush or scramble to sign people, hence our laid back approach. I'd rather see us go for Moore at Brentford, or Sinan Bolat/Schwarzer on a free, but I don't have any control over our signings As for your squad, you're only a couple of players away from being title contenders, so I don't think the FFP rules are going to affect you because you won't need to spend too much; it's just the wages that will sting you.
Funny, I haven't read a single article where he said he'd love to play for Hull, and join up with his childhood friends, yet you all assume that to be true
Bit of an overstatement don't you think? Only the people with no common sense are acting like that though. But I didn't say anything about moving to us in that bit you've highlighted there; it'd be naive to think HCAFC were the only club interested in him, so my question is, if it was Cardiff bidding for him (where he played before) would there be that much fuss about it? I can understand why your fans rate him so highly, it's the same situation we had with Michael Turner. Our fans really rated him and his performances in his time with us led us to think he was worth at least £10m. So we were all gutted when he went to Sunderland for not even half that. After all the deductions we ended up with about £2.1m. Fans will always rate their players higher than they're actually worth; maybe it's a defense mechanism in their brains that creates some kind of denial bubble that keeps them from seeing the true value of footballers. You rate Kasper at £4m-6m, but nobody is going to pay that for a Championship (his quality might be above, but he's playing in that league) goalkeeper, especially one in the last year of his contract. How much do you think Al-Habsi will cost us if we bid for him? I doubt Wigan would want £4m for him and he was one of Wigan's best players last year.
After seeing Hulls pathetic bid for Hooper, i think that they are turning into a bit of a joke in the transfer market. At least they have some news though, we've had no ins or outs from our first team, not even confirmed rumors
4.5 million for a player in his last year of contract who is currently playing in the spl is a joke , do you play a lot of football manager by any chance ? You need to get with the real world , it's all a out being crafty in the transfer market .
Theirs being crafty, and then theirs losing out to clubs who will have no problem paying the asking price. Schmeichel should be seen as a long term investment, so paying what we are (apparently) asking isn't too bad. I know the spl is a bit of a joke, but is he seriously going to swap Champions League football for a premiership relegation fight? If he was going to the prem, it would be to a club that would at least be safe from the drop. Stay at Celtic and more than likely play in the CL again next year or move to Hull and possibly be playing championship football next year.
you could also argue play against Ross county next year or Manchester United ? If he proves to be a success bigger and better things will happen for him.
Ha ha, 'Hull turning into abit of a joke in the transfer market' you couldn't make it up. How did Mills, Peliter, Beckford, Danns etc all get on at Leicester this season, how much in wages are you paying some of your players who will never cut in the Prem i.e Nugent, St Ledger and god knows who else, yes Sven signings but sanctioned by Leicester FC all the same and still no further up the football ladder.
Some valid points being made from both camps on the Hooper situation ... although nobody has mentioned 'the money' ... as footie fans we all love to believe that it is the pure challenge of footballing excellence and the chance to play at the highest level that are the main drivers / motivation .. sadly, judging by the attitude of many modern players, many of whom are little more than sporting mercenaries, it will often come down to the price tag (to quote Jessie J)
So offering reasonable amounts of money, not going overboard and offering ridiculously high sums for players unproven at the level is a joke now? Sorry, I thought it was sensible. Maybe we should go down Leicester's road and sign someone like Matt Mills for a moronic price, not learn from our past mistakes when we last visited the Premier League and be on the brink of administration if we get relegated. Just because you over-value your GK and we offer £2-3million under what Leicester City want for Schmeichel, doesn't make us a joke in the transfer market surely. It's testing Leicester's resolve. Besides, if you don't sell, we'll get another decent GK. I'd be happy with Schwarzer/Given/McGregor anyway. Then when Leicester miserably fail to get Promoted again, and we manage to stay in the Premier League, we'll take Kasper for free.
Yes we did very well in the transfer market thank you, any player Sven wanted, we got oh apart from Maynard (which is a joke completly in the other direction, £7m was far too much and they still rejected it) You are going to miss out on players like Hooper if you are not willing to stump up the cash, although credit to Bruce for attempting to sign players so early.
... with that predictive conviction you should definitely have a go on the Euro lottery tomorrow (£95 million) ... perhaps you could let me have your number choices in advance?
Fixed it for you If i was going to predict what leagues we were going to be in season 14/15, i would have a stab at us both being in the Championship as the teams stand.
I'm just generalising in the same way "all Leicester fans thought they would walk the league the last two years". I can see why you do it, it's quite fun As I said on another thread, there isn't another 'keeper of Kaspers quality available to us, for any price really. And we are by no means desperate to sell, so I'm not surprised we have been rejecting your bids. If Kasper turns around and says he wants out, then fair play, we would be looking to sell. But until that happens, we're happy to carry on rejecting. Just a quick question... Do you think if you weren't so petulant and childish over the Cameron Stewart saga, and flat-out refused to do business with us, that this deal may have nearly been done already?
I think last season was your best shot for a while; the 3 teams coming down were all ****, whereas this season they are bankrolled by oil rich owners (FFP rules aside, it will make a difference), Wigan an obvious exception but they'll be challenging if they hang onto the core of their squad. Let's not forget Bournemouth who are financed by reclusive Russion Billionaire Maxim Demin. It'll be a much tougher league next year I think and I'm glad we aren't a part of it.
No, because you'd still be demanding silly money for your goalkeeper. We should've let him leave when you wanted him, that was a mistake because his performances have completely crapped out. We refused to do business because somewhere in the higher ups somebody was bitter about NP buggering off. They clearly knew that he'd come in for our players, so they just blanked him out. It wasn't anything to do with Leicester City as a club, it was more to do with NP. If NP had been sacked (unrealistic I know), then there would have been no problem whatsoever. You're suggesting that there's no keeper of Kasper's quality available to you, why's that? There are plenty of decent keepers out there for the right price; I wouldn't say you couldn't get somebody in who's just as good, your being unfair to your scouts/management.
