As expected, Lewis Holtby starts against Spain. Looking forward to this one.

holy **** look at that Spain team. De Gea, Montoya, Bartra, Tiago, Tello, Isco all top players. They would be senior internationals if they were English.

Looks like Germany are heading out too. That 'keeper Leno again after he and his defence had done so well all game.

Alcantara and Isco have looked different class all night, Isco especially. Whoever gets a hold of him this summer is getting some player.

I think their number 3 looks class too. Saw him play for Sociedad and he looked very sharp, in contrast to Tello and Muniain who don't look anywhere near as good as they're hyped.

England are light years behind Spain.

It's slightly reassuring to know Germany are too, although they might plead that they've just had a golden generation which produced a number of full internationals who could give Spain a game. Perhaps.

Tello's decision making looked off tonight. He's got some serious technique and he looks like he can go past people for fun - at least at U21 level - but he's clearly got some way to go yet. Definitely one to keep an eye on. Haven't seen enough of Muniain to comment to be honest.

If I were Holtby, I might say I preferred a deeper role since my chances of playing there are so much better than as a number 10. He's a good enough player, and young enough, that he can develop into that role successfully. But as of right now, I get the feeling he's a good number 10, and still learning his way around other roles. Gylfi's a number 10 as well, who's learned to do pretty well as a LM.

Theoretically, finding players who can play more than one position sounds like a great idea to hedge against depth problems. In our case, it's meant overloading on creative attacking central players and not getting anyone who prefers to play wide or deep.

No Adam Smith and no Steven Caulker in the Under 21's final game.

Pearce has gone for Steele, Clyne, Rose, Lees, Wisdom, McEachran, Chalobah, Shelvey, Ince, Zaha, Wickham.

When Pearce gets relieved of his duties tomorrow morning, no doubt he'll blame the players, lack of under 21s in the Premier League and not having his best players available. Well we're on the verge of losing our 3rd game of 3, the last 2 being against opposition who don't have their under 21s playing regularly in a top league either and he's changed the whole team around for this final game so it can't be that all of them have let him, and themselves down. If the latter were true, he's picked a squad full of failures so it's still his fault.

    **** coach, good riddance.

    Losing to Israel <doh>

Feel sorry for Hoddle having to watch this rubbish.

On the other hand, Robbo is doing analysis on SSN right now - quite impressive, could have a future in the business.

Harry should take it. He could do the U21 for a couple of years til Hodgson fails and then step up taking his free-flowing England/Swansea/Wigan/Barca with him.
    Seems triffic to me

In seriousness, some of the best passing i've seen from a Spurs team was under Harry, that purple patch with Bale Modric and VdV, amazing at times.
